As seen on Video Games Chronicle, US PlayStation directors in London announced the restructure of various divisions at Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe, causing lay offs for dozens of employees.
The announcement happened on the day of the publication of the Wired article about the PlayStation 5. Employees affected by the lay offs were notified. Many employees worked at marketing and public relations. Unfortunately, the lay offs also affected US creative services team.
I was part of the creative services team at #PlayStation that got #laidoff today. This group of talented & passionate people are out of a job & now #lookingforwork. If you’re hiring for project coordinators, managers, & designers please post below!

For the record also. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED working at PlayStation. It was a dream come true, many people got to see my art through campaigns and such. The people and environment are exactly what makes me and my friend sad to leave. It was a great place to work.

With the recent changes at the helm starting with new CEO and President Jim Ryan, the American side of PlayStation “has seen its influence grow significantly in the past year,” according to people who spoke with VGC.
In previous years, each region at PlayStation had the power to act independently.
The creative independence of employees at SIE Europe, according to employees VGC talked to, “will have a significantly reduced influence during the coming console generation.”
According to the post, SIEE employees were not informed about the PS5 announcement on Wired nor about the company’s State of Play live streams.
