With the arrival of Disney’s streaming subscription service next month, the company announced today it won’t accept Netflix ads on its entertainment networks.
As seen on The Hollywood Reporter and The Wall Street Journal, Disney is making changes to its advertising policy, though not all of Disney’s networks are affected.
Netflix ads will still continue on ESPN because Netflix is not a direct competitor for the sports network since it doesn’t broadcast live sporting events. However, channels such as ABC and Freeform are affected by the decision.
While it’s standard for TV networks not to show ads from competing networks, they had welcomed ads from Netflix. Now, things are about to change as TV networks are launching their streaming services.
