The current chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, Shawn Layden, will be leaving the company after 32 years.
As seen on @PlayStation, the tweet announces the departure of Layden without any explanations.
“It is with great emotion that we announce that Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden will be departing SIE. His visionary leadership will be greatly missed. We wish him success in future endeavors and are deeply grateful for his years of service. Thanks for everything, Shawn!”

According to his LinkedIn profile, he has previously worked as president and CEO at Sony Computer Entertainment America, as well as Executive VP and COO at Sony Network Entertainment International. He was also president at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. His first job at Sony was producer of International Software Development at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.
He hasn’t shared any statements about his departure on LinkedIn or Twitter.
Layden will become the latest executive to leave the company after Jack Treton left in 2014, Adam Boyes in 2016, and John Drake earlier this year.
It is still unknown as to who will replace Layden.
