Contrary to plans the game developer had earlier, Naughty Dog announced today The Last of Us Part II won’t have multiplayer features.
According to a post on its Facebook page, Naughty Dog has focused on the game’s single player campaign. For the dev team, it’s “far and away the most ambitious project Naughty Dog has ever undertaken.”
However, the work on the “evolution” of the Factions mode from The Last of Us Part I and the making of an another mode more for Part II was the reason for Naughty Dog to make a difficult decision. “Likewise, as development began on the evolution of our Factions mode from The Last of Us Part I, the vision of the team grew beyond an additional mode that could be included with our enormous single player campaign.” “Wanting to support both visions, we made the difficult choice that The Last of Us Part II would not include an online mode.”
Though there are some fans who feel disappointed by the lack of multiplayer online, many fans on Facebook do support Naughty Dog because of its work on the single player campaign. Naughty Dog does plan to bring multiplayer to games after The Last of Us Part II.
