Via its Xbox Blog, Microsoft announced the arrival of the Project xCloud Public Preview coming this October, which will let players test console games like Gears 5 on their smartphones and tablets.
In the blog post written by Kareem Choudry, Corporate VP of Project xCloud, he says the company is inviting the gaming community to try out the preview for users in the US, UK and Korea.
Gamers in the US will be able to play Halo 5: Guardians, Gears 5, Killer Instinct, and Sea of Thieves without an Xbox One console. In order to play, players would have to register first. The main requirements: a phone or tablet using Android 6.0 or higher with Bluetooth 4.0, a Microsoft account, and a Bluetooth-enabled Xbox One wireless controller. A phone mount is also recommended.
Android users will have access to content wit the upcoming Microsoft Game Streaming app, to be available in the next few weeks. Only the ones who obtain an official invite will be able to sign in.
Microsoft is already working with certain phone networks to deliver a great experience. Those companies are SK Telecom in Korea, Vodafone in the UK, and T-Mobile in the US.
“This is just the beginning. We’ll continue to improve, innovate, invite more of you in, add more content, and do it with the community in an open and transparent way. We can’t wait to hear your stories and share more at X019!”
