Almost a week after the release of Apple Arcade, Google announced the arrival of the Google Play Pass, the company’s newest subscription service that gives users access to over 350 apps and games, without ads and in-app purchases.
The new Google service will cost just like Apple’s at US$4.99 and will be available later this week in the US, while access to the service in other countries will be coming soon. And just like other subscription services, new games and apps will be added monthly.
For a limited time, users can pay just $1.99 a month for a whole year, returning to the regular price after the end of that period. This offer ends on October 10.
Among the popular apps and games you’ll see in this curated service are Monument Valley, Terraria, Risk, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and many others.
Once users sign up, they’ll see a Play Pass tab on the Google Play app.
To be fun for the whole family, the “family managers” will be able to share Play Pass access with up to five other members of the family with Google Play Family Library. With this feature, each of the users can download the games they want to play individually.
A free trial will be available as well.
