Earlier today, the publishing rights for the game Alan Wake have returned to game developer Remedy Entertainment, as seen in a press release. Originally, Microsoft had the publishing rights to release the game exclusively on Xbox 360; Remedy kept the PC rights.
For now, Remedy Entertainment is getting ready to release Control, coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC. With those rights coming back to the developer, the original title can be brought to other consoles or a sequel could be developed. In a statement to EuroGamer, a Remedy spokesperson said: “The only thing we want to clarify, now that Remedy owns the publishing rights, is that we could bring Alan Wake to different platforms if we so choose. We have nothing to announce for now. We are fully focused on Control releasing on 27th August.”
