Almost four years after the sale of ThinkGeek by online retailer Geeknet to GameStop, ThinkGeek is merging with GameStop. Known as the destination for fans of geek culture, it offers various licensed products from well-known sci-fi and comic franchises. As a result, ThinkGeek its shutting down its virtual store and selling all its merchandise online at 50% off (using the promo code MOVINGDAY).
According to the website, the more than 40 brick-and-mortar ThinkGeek locations will remain open, while all physical GameStop stores will have a ThinkGeek section.
Online, the ThinkGeek.com [Archive] web site will shut down on July 2nd, moving a “curated selection of unique items historically found on ThinkGeek.com via a ThinkGeek section” on GameStop’s website.
In other words, ThinkGeek is moving back home.
We here at ThinkGeek have had more fun than a barrel of monkeys being the destination retailer for geeks. Today, we’re announcing that we’re moving back in with our roommates (ahem, parents) over at GameStop. Click the link for info about our big move –> https://t.co/LHwY93vIxc
