Halo fans may have already marked Holiday 2020 on their calendar app for the release of the next Halo game, but cosplayers who love the franchise, as well as many others, may have one more thing to do next month.
A costume contest has been announced for the upcoming three-day Halo: Outpost Discovery events. Though the event will be all about Halo, the cosplay contest, according to a press release, “is open to costumes from any media.”
The contest is open to participants of all ages to be divided into seven categories: Youth, Armor, Needlework, FX, Best in Show, Judge’s Choice, and Audience Favorite. It will take place on the Saturday night of each event.
To be eligible to participate, the costumes, the press release says, “must be at least 50-percent handmade or altered for amateur participants, and 75-percent for professional participants. Judges will be looking for creativity, skill level, and originality.”
Among the top prizes:
Armor
• First Place – $1000
• Second Place – $500
• Third Place – $200
Needlework
• First Place – $1000
• Second Place – $500
• Third Place – $200
FX
• First Place – $1000
• Second Place – $500

Best in Show
• First Place – $2000
