Five years after the release of the original Shovel Knight game, developer Yacht Club Games announced the release date for the next two expansions that will bring the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove saga to a conclusion.
Both the King of Cards expansion and the recently-announced Shovel Knight Showdown 2D fighting game will make their debut on April 9, 2019.
This time around, players will be able to get the entire saga as a digital or a physical edition with all the expansions. Current owners who already enjoy Shovel Knight will be getting the latest two expansions free of charge. Players can still get the current titles at $29.99 and be able to download the newer expansions for free the day of release, though the price of the complete saga will increase “around this release.” Unfortunately, for portable console owners, Shovel Knight Showdown won’t be coming to 3DS and Vita. Meanwhile, PS4 and Switch owners will be able to purchase the complete edition in a physical box.
In addition, owners of the Wii U, 3DS and Switch will be able to make use of the Treasure Trove amiibo 3-pack, which includes Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and King Knight. The amiibo figures will let users “unlock new challenges in their respective games,” a cosmetic armor set in their respective games, and a delightful fairy companion usable across all single player Shovel Knight games!”
