This evening, Nintendo has made a series of small yet important announcements about games featuring Mario and its upcoming online paid service.
The Japanese company has just announced via social media it is developing a new kart game titled Mario Kart Tour to be released before or in March 2019 on iPhone and Android devices. Unfortunately, Nintendo did not release additional information about the mobile game currently in development. The release of Mario Kart Tour coincides with the company’s end of the fiscal year in March 2019.
On the film side, Nintendo, Co., Ltd. and Illumination announced they will develop a film starring the famous plumber Mario. According to a post, “the project will be produced by Chris Meledandri, Founder and CEO of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto, Representative Director, Fellow of Nintendo.” Both companies will finance the Mario film; Universal Pictures will be in charge of distributing the film worldwide. With this cinematic plan, Nintendo is opening up its most-beloved intellectual property to the big screen once again, after many years.

For fans who have been waiting for online multiplayer support on the Switch, Nintendo mentioned the Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) paid service will make its debut in September 2018. No more info was revealed by the company.
