At the Anime Expo 2017, Maki Terashima-Furuta, Vice President at Production I.G, revealed a new trailer for FLCL 2 & FLCL 3, with mention of the main staff.
FLCL, a six-episode anime series that made its debut in Japan in April 2000 and in the US via Adult Swim in 2003, became an iconic animation, with many fans wanting more ever since.
Kazuya Tsurumaki, director of the first FLCL, will return as Supervisor for Seasons 2 and 3, while Yoshiyuki Sadamoto makes a comeback as Original Character Designer, as well as alternative rock band The Pillows.
Others are Hideto Iwai as Screenplay, Chikashi Kubota as Character Designer, and Kiyotaka Oshiyama as Mechanical Designer.
With twelve new episodes to be seen in two seasons, FLCL will be back on Toonami in 2018.
Back in March, Adult Swim mentioned the following about FLCL:
In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together. Meanwhile, the war between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity rages across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenaged girl who believes there is nothing amazing to expect from her average life, until one day when a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon enough, Medical Mechanica is attacking her town and Hidomi discovers a secret within her that could save everyone, a secret that only Haruko can unlock.
But why did Haruko return to Earth? What happened to her Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota? And where did the human-type robot ‘Canti’ go?
