Japanese game developer and publisher Level-5 (株式会社レベルファイブ), known for its work on games such as Professor Layton, Ni no Kuni, Yo-kai Watch and Inazuma Eleven, has acquired Comcept (株式会社), company founded in 2010 by former Capcom producer and Mega-Man co-creator Keiji Inafune (稲船 敬二), and has been renamed Level-5 Comcept.
A report on the most recent issue of Weekly Famitsu, translated by Gematsu, says “Level-5 Comcept is a company that combines the philosophies of both companies.” However, according to Inafune, “Although there are plans to close Comcept as it currently stands in the future, I will take responsibility for the titles I’m working on until the end.”
Though there are 15 employees at Level-5 Comcept, most of them who are from the original Comcept team, Level-5 wants “to gradually recruit staff from here on.”
The first official game by the new Level-5 Comcept team will be the Android/iOS title Dragon Colonies, due for release sometime next year in Japan.
