Adam West, actor well-known for playing the role of the most entertaining versions of the Caped Crusader, died Friday night due to leukemia at age 88. West played as Bruce Wayne and Batman on the ABC show and theatrical film from 1966 to 1968, but unlike other actors who have played the role of Batman in films, West has been the most recognizable one of all for many people with his many appearances throughout the years. Among them, he played as Mayor Adam West on Family Guy, as himself on The Big Bang Theory, as himself and Batman on Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and many others.
At Megacon Orlando last year, he told fans about the animated film Batman: Return of the Caped Crusader, based on the 1960s Batman TV series, where he, along with Burt Ward (as Robin) and Julie Newmar (as Catwoman), returned one more time to play their leading roles.
Two messages were shared on social media today due to his passing:
Our beloved AW passed away last night. He was the greatest. We'll miss him like crazy. We know you'll miss him too – West Family pic.twitter.com/8bkEq1C2ao
