The 3DS family of devices will soon have a new member as Nintendo announces the New Nintendo 2DS XL for July 28. The debut of the portable system will give fans another option if they want to update their 3DS for just $149.99.
With the release of the New Nintendo 2DS XL, two other games will also make their debut: Miitopia and Hey! PIKMIN.
“This new addition to Nintendo’s portable hardware line demonstrates our commitment to the hand-held market,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé. “New Nintendo 2DS XL sports a beautiful clamshell design and offers a great balance between price and performance.”
Though the system will feature the large same screen size as the one on the New Nintendo 3DS XL, the New Nintendo 2DS XL will only feature the 2D display, missing the 3D feature that attracted many fans.
