At its F8 Conference today, Facebook introduced Facebook Spaces, its newest app to bring social virtual reality experience to life.
In order to connect those who live far away from each other much closer, Facebook Spaces is a visual environment that brings people into virtual rooms.
After users customize their own virtual selves aka avatars, it’s time to start inviting friends with FB Messenger to join you in a VR chat. Together, users in the same room can share content and watch 360 videos, draw objects in the air with a virtual marker, share pictures and memories, and more.
Facebook Spaces, still in beta for Oculus Rift, will be opened eventually to software developers as a platform to extend its reach to more audiences in an immersive way.
For Facebook, this is just the beginning as it will continue to explore more cool social VR experiences to offer users.
The app is now available for Oculus Rift.
