Hours after Nintendo announced the NES Classic Edition will be discontinued, market research company The NPD Group said the Nintendo Switch is Nintendo’s fastest-selling gaming console in its history.
Since its release on March 3rd, more than 906,000 Switch units were sold during the console’s debut month across the US.
One unexpected surprise was the amount of units sold for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with more than 1.3 million units, including more than 925,000 for Switch and almost 460,000 units for the Wii U.
The numbers indeed show some people bought more than one copy of Zelda for the Switch, most likely to have “a limited edition of the game to collect and a second version to play.”
