Game developer Re-Logic announced via its game forum that Terraria has surpasses 20 million copies sold, as of the end of last year.
Since the game’s launch in 2011 on PCs, the 2D sandbox adventure game has seen its popularity increase over the years. In the last 18 months since version 1.3 arrived to PCs, 8.5 million copies have arrived to multiple devices and platforms such as PC, Linux, Mac, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, 3DS, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Amazon devices.
“The entire team would like to say a massive THANK YOU to all of you for making all of this possible. It has been a pleasure to have all of you along on the journey thus far, and we are really looking forward to continuing down that path,” says the post on the game’s forum. “Terraria is a game – and a franchise – that has so much life left in it, and we cannot wait to share those plans with you in the months and years to come.”
The company also thanks 505 Games for bringing Terraria to consoles and mobile devices.
Re-Logic is still working on version 1.3 for consoles, which is “just around the corner,” with the mobile version “right behind that.” Fans should also expect news from Re-Logic on the status of Otherworld in the near future.
