After the tragic accident that killed 76 people aboard a plane on its way to Colombia, including members of a Brazilian soccer team who were going to play the finals of the Copa Sudamericana, EA pays tribute to Chapecoense in FIFA 17.
The soccer community has been mourning the passing of soccer players and specialized media that was travelling to a neighbor country in South America. As a sign of solidarity, EA offered owners of FIFA 17 access to the Chapeconese kit and crest for free.
EA included the following statement in English and Portuguese: “Wear this kit and crest in support of the friends, family and fans of Chapecoense. Vista esse uniforme e escudo em apoio aos amigos, familiars e fas da Chapecoense.” It ends its message with the phrase “Força Chape” that has been used as a hashtag on social media to mention support for the soccer team.
Players can get the kit and crest in the new items section of the game’s Ultimate Team mode.
