According to a post on The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool director Tim Miller has been selected as executive producer for Sony Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog film.
The news comes a week after Tim Miller decided not to continue working on the Deadpool sequel, and he is not moving alone. Miller’s longtime collaborator Jeff Fowler will join him once again on the Sonic film. This movie will mark the directorial debut for Fowler.
The post says the plan will be to create a hybrid CG-animated/live-action family film. Josh Miller and Patrick Casey are working on the script.
For Tim Miller, “Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts. The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for him to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to this iconic character.”
