In just over 60 days, Pokémon Go has become the fastest game ever to reach $500 million, beating popular competing games such as Candy Crush Saga, Puzzle & Dragons and Clash of Clans.
As shown in the graph, it took “over 200 days” for Candy Crush Saga and “over 400 days” for Puzzle & Dragons and Clash of Clans to reach $500 million in consumer spending worldwide.
After adding up expenses by users on the iOS App Store and Google Play, App Annie predicts the mobile app is expected to break the $1 billion mark “by the end of 2016.”
Though media reports say interest in Pokémon Go is decreasing, a very large numbers of users who downloaded the app continue using the app a lot, putting the game in second place, right after Word With Friends, in the list for “Top Games by 30-Day Retention Rate, Android Phone / United States, July 2016.”
The game could claim the #1 spot again as more new features are being added to Pokémon Go. Just yesterday, Niantic Labs CEO announced Pokémon Go will be playable on the Apple Watch.
