Veteran gamers who played ToeJam & Earl on the Sega Genesis some 25 years ago will be happy to know Adult Swim Games will bring ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove in 2017 to consoles and PC.
The upcoming game, being developed by Humanature Studios, will bring back the duo once again. In this new game, like the description says, “TJ decides it’s a good idea to “borrow” the Rapmaster Rocketship from Lamont (no point waking him up, right?), so he and Big E. can take Latisha and Lewanda out for a joyride. While they’re in orbit around Earth, maybe showing off just a little, TJ tells Earl to crank the bass on the speakers and “Press the RED button!” Unfortunately, that’s the button that says: “Black Hole – Do Not Press!!” (Doh!) You can pretty much guess the rest, TJ and Earl once again find themselves searching for the pieces of their Rocketship, collecting power-up presents left lying around by Santa, and dealing with the less-than-rational human beings.”
Among some of the features in the latest game: nine playable characters, lots of funky music (13 new songs and 13 remakes), randomly-generated stacked levels, many secrets to find, online play.
Back in 2015, the creators of TomJam & Earl were able to obtain enough funding on Kickstarter, more than $400,000 from 7300+ backers.
