In an interview with The World Folio, Sega Sammy Group CEO Hajime Satomi said Sonic The Hedgehog will be coming to the big screen in 2018. Currently, Sega Sammy Group is working with Sony Pictures to bring this hybrid live-action/animation film.
“Sega Sammy Group is currently planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ movie scheduled for release in 2018. Like with this CG animation production, we would like to expand our business into other entertainment areas beyond what we are currently involved,” said Satomi.
As the Sonic The Hedgehog approaches its 25 anniversary this June, there are projects Sega has planned, but about this movie with Sony Pictures, little else is known. Unfortunately, it is still unknown if the making of this movie will replace the one both Sony and Sega announced in 2014.
