According to the Associated Press, the US Supreme Court will hear Microsoft’s appeal of Xbox 360 game-scratching lawsuit. The judges will finally decide if Microsoft should face a class action lawsuit. According to gamers who complained to Microsoft, a defect in many Xbox 360 consoles caused damage to their library of physical discs, with scratches that later made their game discs unusable.
Microsoft’s case has gone back and forth. A federal judge dismissed the lawsuit back in 2012 stating there weren’t enough complaints to turn this case into a class action lawsuit, however, a federal appeals court reversed the previous decision last year.
More than 80 million Xbox 360 consoles have been sold according to the company, but Microsoft says 0.4% of people who bought the console reported about the disk scratches.
