A post yesterday on the popular forum site NeoGaf shows that a Nintendo engineer has filed patents for a new handheld or controller “featuring a free-form display.” Though the web site does not show Nintendo as the company that submitted the patent application, the names do belong to Nintendo engineers.
The revelation of this controller with an elliptical touch-screen seen on the patent web site doesn’t mean it is the one people will see on Nintendo’s next console, but it gives gamers a clearer idea of what Nintendo wants to offer them.
The controller also has two control sticks, two shoulder buttons, a touch panel,a card slot, and a speaker.
