In today’s 30-minute Smash Nintendo Direct, Masahiro Sakurai shared many news with the audience including the arrival of Roy (Fire Emblem), Lucas (Mother 3) and Ryu (Street Fighter). Though this time the characters are not longer free (at least owners of both 3DS and Wii U version got Mewtwo for free), the new arrivals will cost all players.
This is also the first time Smash brings guests from fighting franchises Virtua Fighter (Sega) and Tekken (Bandai Namco) at least in their Mii Fighter look. With Ryu from Capcom, Smash is becoming the new center of the fighting universe. Will it be okay if we ask Nintendo to bring some Marvel characters, too?
The new Mii Fighter costumes look tempting enough to get them all, especially for the ones who have played Mega Man and its many titles. With a dose of Splatoon and Animal Crossing, plus the Dreamland stage, the entire load of content becomes a lot more interesting.
The content showed today costs $21.96 for Smash Wii U and $29.16 for both 3DS and Wii U versions.
With Tourney Mode and YouTube replays, there are more reasons to own Smash now if you haven’t gotten it yet.
Nintendo also made available a new Smash Controller app for the 3DS, so that people who do not own the 3DS version of the game can use their 3DS device to play Smash Wii U. The app costs $0.99; check out the eShop on the 3DS for more info.
