With the free Xbox Avatars app from Microsoft, downloadable via the Store (Beta) app, users can now see their virtual selves on the upcoming version of the Windows operating system. Gamers can also edit their avatars, and dress them up with various costumes, glasses, hats, rings, and props.
Besides “Dress Up” and “Edit Avatar,” there is a link to Marketplace, opened with the Store (Beta) app, and a Photobooth feature that is not available at the moment but coming soon.
A click on the smiley face takes you to the Windows Feedback app to notify Microsoft if something is not working perfectly. Also, the Settings option just lets you turn on or off the background music.
If you are using Windows 10 Technical Preview, you can download the app by clicking here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/avatars/9nblgggz5qdq#app-details. Xbox fans can still try this by going to https://live.xbox.com/en-US/avatareditor on PCs (Microsoft Silverlight required).
[O]: It’s nice to see someone like Chewbaca on Windows 10 Technical Preview. I got Master Chief having fun with a Chocobo.
