A member of the hacking group Lizard Squad was arrested in connection to the hacking of gaming networks Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
Vinnie Omari, one of the hackers who claimed responsibility for the attack on both game services, was arrested “on suspicion of fraud by false representation and Computer Misuse Act offense” yesterday by agents from the South East Regional Organized Crime Unit (UK) at his home with a search warrant. His electronic devices, including his consoles, laptops and phones were taken away.
Brian Krebs, a freelance journalist who focuses on news about internet security, published a post on his web site about his findings on Lizard Squad in detail.
Omari also shared an image of a police bail document with The Daily Dot and Krebs on Security. The Kingston Police later published a press release about the case today afternoon confirming the arrest. Yesterday, he was released on bail, and no charges have been filed.
