The TV channel that brought shows to the gaming and tech audience coming to an end.
NBCUniversal told IGN the network will go off the air on November 30. The company has informed cable and satellite providers already of the removal of the TV channel. In recent years, NBCUniversal had plans to replace G4 with the Esquire network, but later decided to replace it with the Style network, leaving G4TV with repeats of old shows.
Since such shows as Attack of the Show and X-Play were cancelled early in 2013, the future of G4 has been in doubt, until recently with today’s announcement.
Many people should remember the earlier years of Tech TV (originally ZDTV) with shows such as Call for Help and The Screensavers, while G4 aired shows such as Cinematech, Cheat!, Arena, Electric Playground, Extended Play (later known as X-Play), and others. Both Tech TV and G4 merged to become G4TechTV and eventually was renamed G4TV.
