After developing four home consoles and two portable devices, Sony Computer Entertainment must be feeling proud of its achievements. Since 1994, Sony entered the videogame industry as a developer of game consoles. The company’s earlier attempt into gaming hardware included a disagreement with Nintendo about producing a CD-ROM add-on for the Super Nintendo. But history is history, and next month, Sony Computer Entertainment will celebrating the 20th anniversary of its first console, the PlayStation, which made its debut on December 3, 1994, in Japan.
In this video, you’ll see a reminder of the old and not-so-old days of gaming, with scenes from Virtua Fighter to Final Fantasy VII, from God of War to Gran Turismo, from FIFA to Monster Hunter, Metal Gear Solid and a lot more, seen in all of Sony’s consoles. Check out this short clip titled “Everyone Who Loves Games, Thank you” about the history of the PlayStation.
