Android TV, Google’s newest attempt to bring entertainment content and the Internet via a set top box is very different to its predecessor, so much so that it will also offer mobile games and apps on your phone to your TV.
During its Google I/O 2014 presentation today, the company revealed many of the capabilities of its upcoming device to compete against the likes of Apple, Roku, Amazon and others.
So, how will Android TV attract gamers? The inclusion of a game controller, microphone, voice recognition, all inside a micro-console by Razor. The people at Razer and Junglecat have worked with Google to bring Android games to the living room.
“This is a console of the future,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “Built on Google’s incredible Android TV platform, the Razer micro-console incorporates not only hardcore and casual gaming, but music, movies and other entertainment and social applications, all on an affordable system.”
Razer’s micro-console will be released in the fall.
