The largest collection of video games verified by the Guinness Book of World Records, which consists of over 11,000 games for multiples platforms, has been sold at an auction for US$750,250.
The collection, made by Michael Thomasson, was put on sale on June 11 and ended on Sunday, June 15, 2014. It took 56 bids for a bidder, peeps_10091970, to win to become the new owner of the biggest gaming collection ever.
There are important reasons for the sale of this unique collection, according to Thomasson (CEO): “I simply have an immediate family and extended family that have needs that need to be addressed. While I do not wish to part with these games, I have responsibilities that I have made to others and this auction is how I will help meet them. No worries, I’ve sold my collection many times in the past and still managed to capture Guinness’ attention, and it is entirely possible that I may again.”
