Amazon continues in its quest to enter into the world of gaming today by purchasing gaming studio Double Helix Games. With 75 employees and a long history of titles, Double Helix Games becomes part of online retailer Amazon. But, why? Amazon could be preparing to develop an Android-based gaming/entertainment console, according to the web site VG247.com.
The game developing company published the most-recent version of Killer Instinct for the launch of the Xbox One. Capcom’s Strider, a game developed also by Double Helix, will be making its debut this month.
Amazon confirmed to TechCrunch the acquisition of Double Helix Games by stating the following:
Amazon has acquired Double Helix as part of our ongoing commitment to build innovative games for customers.
