After the worldwide release of Pokémon X & Y on October 12, 2013, fans will be able to show off their skills at this year’s Pokémon Championships. Starting this month, the Pokémon Winter Regional Championships will take place in five cities across the country:
- Doswell, VA – January 11th-12th – (TCG both days; video game on Jan. 12th only)
- Long Beach, CA – January 18th-19th – (TCG both days; video game on Jan. 19th only)
- Salem, OR – January 18th-19th – (TCG both days; video game on Jan. 19th only)
- St. Charles, MO – January 18th-19th – (TCG both days; video game on Jan. 18th only)
- Orlando, FL – January 25th-26th – (TCG both days; video game on Jan. 26th only)
The tourneys are open to the public. To participate, players must bring their own copy of Pokémon X or Y and their 2DS/3DS system, or their deck for the trading card game. The winners will receive trophies, booster packs, and “a National Championships Travel Award or Stipend from a pool of nearly $200,000 in travel allowances.”
