For us gamers who have enjoyed playing the Mega Man games since the 8-bit generation of games, we have not seen the migration of the character into the current and next generation. Though we’ve seen Mega Man 8 and 9 and 10, those games have kept the original style of the franchise, but have not moved forward. Though his presence will be seen on Super Smash Bros. 4 for the Wii U and 3DS as one of the many fighters, Mega Man has been stuck basically in 8-bit and 16-bit games when it comes to the hero’s own adventures. However, Mega Man creator Keiji Inafume wants to change this in his own way with Mighty No. 9 (for PC via Steam).
Since he left Capcom and opened up his independant studio called Comcept USA, Inafune wants to bring us Mighty No. 9, the spiritual sequel of Mega Man. Formers Capcom employees who worked on Mega Man games now form Comcept USA, but the new company in charge of Inafune needs the support of gamers to make this happen.
Here’s some info about Beck, the main character of Mighty No. 9:
Mighty No. 9 is an all-new Japanese side-scrolling action game that takes the best aspects of the 8- and 16-bit era classics you know and love, and transforms them with modern tech, fresh mechanics, and fan input into something fresh and amazing!
You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk. Run, jump, blast, and transform your way through six stages (or more, via stretch goals) you can tackle in any order you choose, using weapons and abilities stolen from your enemies to take down your fellow Mighty Number robots and confront the final evil that threatens the planet!
After almost one day, the Kickstarter project has already received over half of the $900,000 needed to make this game a reality. The more support Comcept USA gets, the more things could come such as versions for the Wii U, PS3, and Xbox 360, extra levels, etc. Check out the page for more info: [https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9].
