According to VG247, a source says Sony’s PS4 aka Orbis will have 50% more computational power (totaling 1.84 teraflops) than Microsoft’s Durango (with 1.23 teraflops), but Microsoft cannot be counted out that easily according to the statement. The source also stated that Microsoft’s next console will have 8GB of RAM with 3GB for the operating systems, apps and security, plus 4GB to 5GB for games. Sony’s will have only 4GB of RAM, with 1GB for the operating system, and 3GB for games. It is also believed both future consoles will read 100GB Blu-Ray discs.
Another rumor talks about the PS4 and its upcoming controller. A CVG source working on a next-generation game said Sony is working on prototypes for the new PS4 controller, many of them not looking a lot like the DualShock. Some of those prototypes of the PS4 “pad” include an LCD touch screen and a biometric sensors on the grips. Another source said PlayStation engineers are trying “to emulate the same user interface philosophies as the PS Vita” for Sony’s upcoming console.”
Will we see PS3 controllers being used with a PS4 gamepad, just like we’ve seen Wiimotes with a Wii U gamepad in the near future? Will we also have official info in the coming weeks (not months)?
