[EN]: It looks like some people at Google still remember the old days of gaming, and decided to do what they do best to the console that saved the gaming industry. A few hours ago (it’s already April in Japan), Google released a humorous video of a version of Google Maps for the Nintendo Entertainment System. This Google Maps just doesn’t ‘bring ‘its Maps application to the NES, it also reminds us gamers of the many times we had to blow the cartridge and also the 8-bit graphics seen in one SquareEnix game.
“Our engineering team in Japan understood the importance of maps on retro game systems. With the power of Google’s immense data centers, and support from Nintendo and Square Enix, we were able to overcome the technical and design hurdles of developing 8-bit maps,” Tatsuo Nomura, software engineer at Google Maps, wrote in a blog post.
The Google Maps 8-bit functionality is actually available on its web site under ‘Quest’ (on the top right corner) and is available currently on desktop PCs.
I felt even more special when the little girl asks for the location of ‘Peru Nazca’ and it shows it right away, plus the smile seen not just in her but in her parents, too.

Hace unas horas (ya es abril en Japón), Google dio a conocer un video humorístico de una versión de Google Maps para el Nintendo Entertainment System.
