Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) held its annual Destination PlayStation® Latin America event in Cabo del Sol, Mexico, announcing the full localization of actors, action, dialog, effects and every inch of gameplay of blockbuster games, Killzone®3 and inFAMOUS 2 for PlayStation®3 (PS3™). In just over a year since PlayStation® officially launched its distribution channels into Latin America, PlayStation products are now available in 18 countries across the region and are available throughout Latin America on the same day as the US and Canada. As part of its official expansion into the region, the company also offers a number of products that are exclusive to Latin America, such as the Gamer Kit line, which offers an all-in-one entertainment solution with huge savings that includes a system, accessories, and games.
“Millions of Latin American fans follow PlayStation for its diverse and rich game library as well as for its superior entertainment value and experience. Our priority is for every consumer in the region to have full access to every product that PlayStation has to offer, along with full product warranty and service,” said Mark Stanley, senior director and general manager of Latin America at SCEA. “In addition to same day launches of PlayStation’s entire line up of AAA games for the region, we’re also offering a number of products that are only available in Latin America, such as the Gamer Kit line. We’re listening to our consumers, and whether it’s stereoscopic 3D content, exclusive games or the new PlayStation Move experience, our fans will be very busy this year being entertained.”
Launching in August, the Gamer Kit line will offer the PlayStation®2 Gamer Kit, which comes with a PlayStation 2 system, two DUALSHOCK®2 controllers, an 8MB Memory Card, and three top games, in addition to the PSP®(PlayStation®Portable) Gamer Kit, which bundles a PSP system, a Traveler’s Case, and three popular games. Latin American users will also have the opportunity to experience two of the most anticipated PS3 games in Spanish with Killzone®3 and inFAMOUS 2. Killzone®3 which will be localized in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, will be stereoscopic 3D and PlayStation Move motion controller compatible for its February 2011 release. Award-winning action adventure game, inFAMOUS2, will also be fully localized in Spanish for a Spring 2011 launch.
“Localization is a multi-faceted process that also presents an opportunity to enhance the story and experience for a very particular audience. We will be tailoring the rich, graphic adventure of inFAMOUS 2 just for the Latin America region by creating new elements that will allow gamers to discover this open world in a relevant and unique way,” said Connie Booth, senior director of product development studio at SCEA.
In the past year, SCEA has extended greater access to the full array of PlayStation products and services in Latin America, and remains focused on creating localized and exclusive experiences that are tailored for consumers in this region. The PlayStation presence in Latin America is positioned for continued growth and expansion throughout the holiday and into the new year with groundbreaking new innovations such as stereoscopic 3D games, PlayStation Move motion controller and one of the industry’s best game line-ups making its way into the region.
