SONY ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT TO HOST WORLD PREMIERE OF DC UNIVERSE^TM ONLINE FAN TRAILER PRODUCED BY MASS ANIMATION AT 2010 ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO

WHAT: Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) today announced that the DC Universe^TM Online (DCUO) fan trailer produced by Mass Animation will make its world premiere debut at the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) Tuesday, June 15 at 5:30PM PST. The trailer will be screened at the SOE booth, located in the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center, Booth #4600. This CGI trailer features animations, visual effects and modeling submitted directly from the DCUO fan community as a result of a contest held on Facebook earlier this year. The contest offered gamers and animators the first ever opportunity to create game animation for an upcoming title.

ABOUT THE CONTEST: As part of an ongoing strategy of building community by combining user-driven content with behind the scenes access to the developers, SOE held a Facebook contest in conjunction with Mass Animation and Autodesk in which participants were provided with a special edition of Autodesk Maya 3D modeling, animation, rendering and visual effects software. Contestants then uploaded their submissions through a special Mass Animation application on the DCUO Facebook fan page. Each week, voters and a panel of judges determined what shots qualified as the “best” and their creators were eligible for voter prizes. Submissions were received from over 28 countries and more than half of the winners are from outside of the United States.
