GameStop Kicks off Fight Night Round 4 with Nationwide Tournament
Players Compete for the Opportunity to Win a Trip to Las Vegas and $5,000 in Cash
GRAPEVINE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jun. 25, 2009– GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME), the world’s largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced that it will host Fight Night Round 4 video game tournaments at more than 2,100 of its U.S. locations beginning on Saturday, July 11, 2009. The in-store tiered tournament on the Xbox 360 will test the skills of any champ with four rounds ending with the “Showdown on the Strip” finals event in Las Vegas.
The tournament will test players’ skills in the ring with other contestants in a single elimination tournament to determine the Round One winners. Many of the participating GameStop locations will begin their tournaments at 2 p.m. local time; however, customers are encouraged to contact their local store to confirm the exact time of the tournament. All contestants must check-in at least 30 minutes prior to the start of play, and you must be at least 13 years old to participate in the event. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their registration form.
The top four players from each store in the first round will advance to the second round on July 18; where the top two winners of each of these competitions will advance to the Regional Finals, which will take place on Aug 1. The top 16 Regional finalists will advance to the championship event, to be held on Aug 31 in Las Vegas.
Finalists will take their place in the ring for 12 rounds against the competition on Fight Night Round 4 on Xbox 360 until one contender is left standing. The Grand Prize winner will receive a one of a kind championship belt and $5,000 in prize money.
