Team Up with PlayStation Network™ this Earth Day and Help Save the Planet, One Digital Download at a Time
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) is celebrating Earth Day this year by making a charitable donation to Conservation International by donating $1 for each of the first 10,000 transactions made on the video delivery service for PlayStation 3. To participate in the promotion, consumers can purchase any of the nearly 7,500 pieces of standard and high-definition digital video content available through PlayStation®Store between the hours of midnight to 11:59 PM PST this Wednesday, April 22.
Conservation International is a nonprofit organization that seeks to protect Earth’s high-biodiversity wilderness areas and important marine regions around the globe. PlayStation Network chose Conservation International to receive the charitable contribution because of its work based on cutting-edge science, comprehensive partnerships and concern for human well-being. For more information about CI, please visit www.conservation.org.
Further celebrating the spirit of Earth Day, PlayStation®Network is announcing a new Featured Collection entitled “Save Our Earth,” which encompasses science-fiction, action movies, anime and other films which showcase planet earth, and our effort to defend it from forces who attempt to destroy it.
“Save Our Earth” Featured Collection includes titles such as:
· Cloverfield
· Hancock
· Independence Day
· Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
· Superman Returns
· The Abyss
· The Day After Tomorrow
· The Terminator
· Fantastic Four
As a reminder, Video files purchased from the PlayStation Store can be backed up to an external storage device and then restored to PS3’s internal hard drive for playback allowing you to clear up space on your hard drive and then restore the video at a later time.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) gives new meaning to “waste management” with a brand new puzzle game that combines strategy and frenzied action with … well, garbage. Taking the puzzle video game genre one step further, Trash Panic™ is the newest PS3 downloadable exclusive that tasks players to compact as much garbage into a trash can before it overflows, and in the most “eco-friendly” way as possible. Trash Panic will be released later this Spring on PlayStation Network.
