PlayStation Resistance 2 Online Tournament Coming Soon
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) together with Major League Gaming’s leading online tournament site, GameBattles, will offer fans of the premier, PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) exclusive first person shooter, Resistance 2™, a chance to battle it out for cash prizes and the ultimate bragging rights in the first ever Resistance 2™ Online Ladder/Tournament. The battle against the Chimera begins on December 22, 2008, with competition culminating on March 31, 2009.
During the Tournament, teams of up to four people each can compete in fun and competitive battles from around the country in an open challenge system. Registration for the online ladder portion will begin December 22, 2008 and end on February 28, 2009. The top 64 teams will proceed into a single elimination bracketed online tournament, from March 1, 2009 – March 31, 2009. Over $50,000 in cash and prizes will be given away to Tournament winners. Prizes include:
- 1st Place (1 team) = $9,000 per team
- 2nd Place (1 team) = $3,000 per team
- 3rd Place (2 teams) = $1,800 per team
- 5th Place (4 teams) = $1,200 per team
- 9th Place (8 teams) = $750 per team
- 17th Place (16 teams) = $600 per team
- 33rd Place (32 teams) = $450 per team
Created by independent developer Insomniac Games, Resistance 2 represents its fourth PS3 exclusive title. The sequel to the best-selling PS3 launch title, Resistance: Fall of Man®, Resistance 2 expands upon its predecessor with a bigger, more innovative and technically-advanced experience. In addition to an epic single-player campaign, Resistance 2 offers an unprecedented eight-player, class-based online co-op campaign and 60-player online competitive multiplayer.
