Konami and Glu celebrate Metal Gear Acid Mobile’s Award as Best Mobile Game at What Mobile Awards 2008
London– 31st October 2008 – Last week at the annual What Mobile Awards 2008, Metal Gear Acid Mobile, was awarded the Best Mobile Game prize, a much coveted award as the readers themselves vote for their favourite game.
With atmospheric graphics and appearances by familiar Metal Gear characters, Metal Gear Acid Mobile combines the renowned characteristics of the favourite stealth trip with a new emphasis on tactical turn-based strategy. This innovative approach lets players delve into the strategic side of warfare as differently themed card decks give them unique abilities and actions helping to defeat the dangers lying ahead.
This award recognises Konami’s efforts to adapt its core brands to mobile in a ‘platform adequate’, meaning casually accessible way. Glu mobile has supported this strategy with an outstanding distribution and co marketing support, and we are delighted to share this award with this key partner of ours” added Florian Stronk, Head of Mobile Business Department at Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH
“We are delighted to have collaborated with Konami to bring this benchmark product to market and are thrilled that it’s gaining the recognition that it deserves by winning this prestigious award” says Glu Mobile’s Managing Director of Publishing, EMEA, Frank Keeling.
What Mobile editor Jonathan Morris said: “Our awards have continued to grow year on year, thanks to the increasing support from readers and online users that appreciate being able to give their own opinion on the products and services they use. Mobile gaming is increasing in popularity all the time, as consumers take advantage of the fact that their phone is a perfect handheld games console that goes wherever they go. “The industry now realises how important winning an award of this nature is, compared to the traditional judging system or a choice made by a single person.”
More than 3000 people voted in the 2008 What Mobile Awards by post and online, and the results of this definitive poll were revealed on 23rd October at a ceremony held at Shoreditch House in east London.
