First, Google got into gaming recently through its 3D online social interactive game, Lively. Now, how would you feel if Google gets Valve? It’s hard to believe Google is getting really serious about games. But if you think about it, how many companies can really get into the gaming world? How many have already tried? It seems like Apple has a lead in mobile gaming through its new iPhone. Google is about to debut its Android open-source mobile operating system with T-Mobile’s HTC Dream next week, so it has lots of catching up to do. This, however, does not seems to be everything Google wants to do with cell phones or video games.

A successful company like Valve that distributes PC games online, as well as one that develops excellent games such as Half-Life and Counter-Strike, may be a great one to be bought by Google. A couple of years ago, not many people thought Apple and a new way to play music and games on a mobile phone. Perhaps Apple learned from Nintendo. Also, smaller companies have finally entered into the world of casual games online.

So far, Google has not commented on this Valve rumor, but during the Austin GDC, the company revealed plans to include interactive gadgets (i.e. YouTube videos) and games within the Lively environment. Plug-ins for 3D animation software such as 3ds max, Maya and Google’s SketchUp are being developed. So, I guess people can say that Lively will eventually become a 3D virtual world for net information and games.
