Valve is entering the PC hardware business | Valve está entrando al negocio de hardware de PC

[EN]: If you’ve been playing PC games for many years, you should know that Valve is a software company that mainly offers a platform to distribute games. Valve also makes games. The 9-year anniversary of Steam is almost here (Sept. 12), but the company is not going to be a software-only one for long.’

On the job listing page of the company, the info about Industrial Designer position says: “Valve is traditionally a software company. Open platforms like the PC and Mac are important to us, as they enable us and our partners to have a robust and direct relationship with customers. We’re frustrated by the lack of innovation in the computer hardware space though, so we’re jumping in. Even basic input, the keyboard and mouse, haven’t really changed in any meaningful way over the years. There’s a real void in the marketplace, and opportunities to create compelling user experiences are being overlooked.”

What could we expect of Valve in the near future? At least we know Valve is not working on a gaming console.

OnlineEducation.net: “The World Without The Internet”

[EN]: The Internet has modernized the way we communicate, the information we search for, and the things we buy. However, the world without the Internet as we know it today would be a lot different without it. We would never have seen new companies such as Google & eBay, or new careers such as web deisgners or IT personnel. Information would not travel as fast. And there would have been a twit. But most importantly, people would not have had their voices heard as quickly and effectively via Facebook, Twitter or web sites. Although the freedom of expression online is at risk because of people who either wanted for power, greed, and control, we gotta keep fighting to keep it open and available to everyone. One thing though, the Internet has changed our lives. Infograph by OnlineEducation.net.
