Capcom: “Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set” [PS3/X360]

[EN]: Capcom has just released new information to the gaming press about plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Street Fighter franchise. This announcement should be making lots of fans happy, especially now that the franchise is recognized all around the world.

First, the Collector’s Edition seems like the perfect gift for any Street Fighter fan, though the one game that started it all is missing, the very first Street Fighter (known on a retro-console as Fighting Street for the Turbo Grafx 16). The package includes four of the most current releases of the franchise, including Street Fighter x Tekken (with downloadable content), Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (with downloadable content, too), Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online Edition. The set also comes with a Ryu statute, 11 music CDs of past SF games, a replica of Ryu’s belt (sweet!), a 64-page art book, a two-disc Blu-Ray of a documentary along with two anime movies and the entire anime series.

The price will not be cheap though. If you thought $149.99, then you’re right. Capcom is also organizing a tournament based on the games that will come in the package. It will take place in California, Texas, Taiwan, Japan, France, Brasil, and England. What’s awesome about this may be the award for the winner in Street Fighter X Tekken:  an all-new Scion FR-S Sports Coupe. Read the following press release for more info.

[EN]: Capcom keeps bringing more arcade and console content to iOS devices. If you have been playing Street Fighter IV on the iPhone, Marvel vs Capcom 2 might have been on your wish list already. You just have to wait a few more days, until the 25th, to get the game on the App Store. I’ve played this game on the arcades, Sega Dreamcast and PlayStation 3, and now it’s coming to a portable device. I just wish this game would be graphically optimized for the new iPad. I hope Capcom gets to do this on a future release. And if Apple gets to do an official game controller, that would be sweet.

“Street Fighter 25th Anniversary”

[English]

It was very hard during the years of the 8-bit games and arcades (mid-80s to early 90s) to establish game franchises, and even harder to continue with them as technology has been advancing while trying to make them still relevant today. Like Mario and Zelda recently, the Street Fighter franchise will turn 25 this year. Capcom has not revealed any of its plans to celebrate this amazing feat, but at least we get to see this cool logo.
