Microsoft: “Xbox One”

[EN]: Microsoft’s upcoming console is no longer a secret. It is not Xbox Infinity or Xbox 8 as some people had rumored. There can be one official name for the console, and it is Xbox One.

The specs are very similar to the one seen in the PS4. The Xbox One will come with: an 8-core CPU, 8 GB system memory, a 500 GB HDD, Blu-Ray drive, HDMI In/Out, USB 3.0, and more. Except of course for the lack of backward compatibility –not being able to play Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One–, all this sounds great. The upcoming console has lots of support by companies such as EA. Electronic Arts will be bringing Battlefield 4 to the Xbox One (and PS4). The new EA Sports Ignite engine will also make its debut later this year on the PS4 and Xbox One. Activision is bringing Call of Duty to the PS4 and Xbox One as well.

I’d love to play Xbox One games during E3. Hopefully, you could see us both playing with the Xbox One there next month.

[ES]: La próxima consola de Microsoft ya no es un secreto. No es un Xbox Infinito o Xbox 8 como algunas personas habían rumoreado. Solo puede haber un nombre oficial para la consola, y esa es el Xbox One.

Las especificaciones son muy similares a las que se ven en la PS4. La Xbox One vendrá con: una CPU de 8 núcleos, 8 GB de memoria del sistema , un disco duro de 500 GB, Blu-Ray , HDMI In/Out, USB 3.0 , y mucho más. Excepto, por supuesto, por la falta de compatibilidad con versiones anteriores, -no será capaz de jugar juegos de Xbox 360 en Xbox One- , todo esto suena muy bien. La próxima consola tiene mucho apoyo de compañías como EA. Electronic Arts traerá Battlefield 4 para la Xbox One (y PS4) . El nuevo motor de EA Sports, Ignite, también hará su debut a finales de este año en la PS4 y Xbox One. Activision está trayendo Call of Duty: Ghosts a la PS4 y Xbox One de paso.

Me encantaría jugar juegos de Xbox One durante el E3. Con suerte, nos podrían ver jugando con el Xbox One el próximo mes.

[EN]: It seems like Sony wants gamers to put their minds away from the competition. Before Microsoft’s announcement of the Next Xbox, Sony reveals a video of its PS4 console. Yeah, it’s the one thing people wanted to see when Sony announced it in February, but it decided to show only its controller and games. So, how does the PS4 looks like to you? We can only see bits and pieces  of it, though someone has come up with a cool fan-made model.

After tomorrow’s #XboxReveal, how long will it take Sony to share with gamers a new video of what the console will look like? I don’t want to wait until E3 to see the PS4, but, tomorrow’s #XboxReveal could give the PS4 a few surprises.

[ES]: Parece que Sony quiere que los jugadores pongan sus mentes lejos de la competencia. Antes del anuncio del próxim Xbox de Microsoft, Sony revela un video de su consola PS4. Sí, es la cosa que la gente quería ver cuando Sony lo anunció en febrero, pero decidió mostrar sólo su controlador y juegos. Entonces, ¿qué tal les parece el PS4? Sólo podemos ver fragmentos de la misma, aunque alguien ha llegado con un modelo hecho por un fanático.

Después del #XboxReveal de mañana, ¿cuánto tiempo le tomará Sony a que comparta con los jugadores un nuevo vídeo de cómo se verá la consola? Yo no quiero esperar hasta E3 para ver el PS4, pero, el #XboxReveal de mañana podría dar algunas sorpresas al PS4.

[EN]: The IllumiRoom caught the attention of lots of gamers last year. With the use of Kinect and a widescreen projector, gamers will be able to see more of the stages and not just what they tipically see on the TV screen. Though it sounds and looks exciting, people at Microsoft Research stated recently that even though IllumiRoom is working well, this feature will not be included during the company’s next Xbox demo in May. A demo will be ready to go in July, but it also won’t be included once Microsoft’s next-gen console gets to make its debut. It seems like we have to wait even longer to try this.

[ES]: El IllumiRoom llamó la atención de muchos jugadores el año pasado. Con el uso de Kinect y un proyector con pantalla grande, los jugadores serán capaces de ver más de las etapas y no sólo lo que típicamente ver en la pantalla del televisor . A pesar de que suena y se ve interesante, la gente de Microsoft Research declaró recientemente que a pesar de que IllumiRoom está funcionando bien, esta función no se incluirá durante la demostración del siguiente Xbox de la compañía en mayo. Una demo estará lista en julio, pero tampoco estará incluidá apenas la consola de próxima generación de Microsoft haga su debut. Parece que tendremos que esperar aún más para probar esto.

Microsoft: #XboxReveal: May 21

[EN]: The arrival of the next Xbox console has just been confirmed by Microsoft. The event will take place on May 21st at 10am Pacific /1pm Eeastern in Redmond, Washington. It will be available online for everyone, and on TV via Spike TV (for US and Canadian viewers). Some members of the press have already received an invite to attend.

This presentation should end all or most of the rumors people have seen online about an always-on internet connection, required installation of games on the hard drive, no Xbox 360 game compatibility, and no second-hand use of games.

Will Microsoft bring Xbox 360 compatibility to its next console? Will gamers be able to rent games and play them on their consoles? These are just a couple of questions most gamers have in mind. We’ll have to wait until May 21st.

[ES]: La llegada de la próxima consola Xbox acaba de ser confirmada por Microsoft. El evento se realizará el 21 de mayo a las 10am Pacífico / 1pm Este en Redmond, Washington. [EN]: If you think you are one of the best players of Call of Duty games, you might want to prove your skills in this upcoming $1-million tournament made possible by Activision, Microsoft, Major League Gaming and the Electronic Sports League. By registering for a free Call of Duty Elite account, you can compete via Xbox Live on the Black Ops II League Play (February season). The best eight 4-player teams from the February season will meet in Hollywood for the Call of Duty Championship, along with the best players from the MLG Winter Championship (to take place in Dallas, TX), the Electronic Sports League – Europea, Finals (to take place in Germany), Australia, Brazil and Asia.

Hirai: Sony will release its next-gen console after Microsoft | Sony lanzará su consola de próxima generación después de Microsoft

[EN]: There have been rumors lately about which company will have the most powerful next-generation console, but in an interview with the London’s The Times, Kazuo Kirai said he would let Microsoft release its next-gen console first. Could that be a smart move by Sony?

“Why go first when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?” said Hirai, current President and CEO at Sony.

While Nintendo has already made its move into the next-generation, it didn’t reveal all the technical specifications of the Wii U. Microsoft may follow the same path as Nintendo, though it seems whatever Microsoft decides, Hirai would want Sony to do better.

For now, Sony has its Destination PlayStation event scheduled for February 25-28 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Could that event be the right one for Sony to publicly reveal the PS4?

Also earlier today, VGLeaks.com shared what it says is “the system overview (of the Xbox 720 de Microsoft) with the general components and some technical details about them.”

[ES]: Han circulado rumores últimamente acerca de qué compañía tendrá la más poderosa consola de la próxima generación, pero en una entrevista con The Times de Londres, Kazuo Kirai dijo que iba a dejar que Microsoft lanzara su próxima generación de consola primero. ¿Podría ser un movimiento inteligente por parte de Sony?

“¿Por qué ir primero cuando tus competidores pueden ver tus especificaciones y sacar algo mejor?” dijo Hirai, actual presidente y jefe ejecutivo de Sony.

Microsoft: “Windows Live Messenger” – Shutdown date | Fecha de cierre

[EN]: Microsoft has confirmed the shutdown of the Windows Live Messenger service to its 100+ million users via email. On March 15th, the service will be retired and users (except the ones in mainland China) will be forced to use Skype.

Users can migrate their WLM accounts to the Skype service by logging in with their Microsoft account.

In the email, the company stated that users signing in with WLM on their PCs after March 15 will not be able to, and will just see a notification to upgrade. If users continue to try to use Messenger, they will see the option to simultaneously install Skype and uninstall WLM automatically.

R2 Studios: acquired by Microsoft | acquirido por Microsoft

[EN]: Apple and Google were interested in R2 Studios, a home entertainment tech startup company, but none of them were as successful as the big M in acquiring it. According to the Wall Street Journal some hours ago, this acquisition will help Microsoft with future plans for its Xbox division. The article says this purchase can help MS in offering even more TV entertainment via its gaming console. Microsoft has not shared yet any comments about its acquisition.

[ES]:Apple y Google estaban interesados en R2 Studios, una empresa de inicio tecnológica de entretenimiento para el hogar, pero ninguno de ellos fue tan exitosa como la gran M en adquirirla. De acuerdo con el Wall Street Journal, esta adquisición ayudará a Microsoft con planes futuros para su división Xbox. El artículo dice que esta compra puede ayudar a MS en ofrecer mucho más entretenimiento televisivo a través de su consola de juegos.
