Macross: Do You Remember Love? is a film adaptation of the original Macross anime and it is going to be re-released along with a flight game for the PS3 in a hybrid pack. Los avances tecnológicos han reconfigurado totalmente nuestras comunicaciones cotidianas. En menos de dos décadas, la acelerada informatización de nuestras sociedades modificó la forma en que millones de personas interactúan entre sí, la manera en que buscan información relevante para sus vidas y, particularmente, la velocidad de ambos procesos.

El vínculo entre las compañías y los consumidores no ha sido la excepción en este escenario de transformaciones. De la mano de las redes sociales y las tecnologías móviles se está perfilando un usuario cada vez más informado e interactivo.

Veamos cuáles son las principales características de los nuevos consumidores del siglo XXI, y cómo impactan en la redefinición y en la puesta en práctica de un servicio de atención al cliente eficiente y oportuno:

Están “en red”: los consumidores actuales están presentes en las redes sociales y no las utilizan sólo para compartir fotografías. Si tienen una experiencia desafortunada con un determinado producto o servicio es muy probable que lo hagan saber a sus amigos y contactos. Por tanto, su capacidad de generar contenido –y de que éste se viralice– es muy superior a la que tenía años atrás.

Están informados: los representantes de atención al cliente deben tener presente que los consumidores con los que se contactan pueden buscar, comparar y contrastar información sobre productos y servicios en pocos minutos. Esto es especialmente importante para evitar las respuestas improvisadas o poco serias.

Tiempo real: los consumidores exigen respuestas inmediatas. Y, en una era donde tantas formas de comunicación y logística son posibles, la rapidez con la que se procese un reclamo será directamente proporcional a la satisfacción del cliente.

Atención al cliente siglo XXI

Analizando las principales tendencias del sector, el experto en Marketing y Soluciones SAP Hansen Lieu ha trazado algunos de los principales lineamientos a considerar en esta nueva relación entre clientes y compañías.

En primer lugar, Lieu vislumbra una integración funcional entre redes sociales y servicios de atención al cliente. Según el experto, esto permitirá a las compañías detectar a tiempo la queja de un consumidor insatisfecho antes que éste difunda su inconformismo mediante las redes sociales. Por ejemplo, si un joven que acaba de comprar un televisor LCD expone en las redes sociales que ha tenido un inconveniente técnico al intentar hacer funcionar el dispositivo, es probable que sus amigos y contactos comenten el problema. Algunos intentarán ayudarlo con consejos difícilmente efectivos, mientras otros quizás aprovechen la oportunidad para expresar problemas similares que tuvieron con esa misma marca.

En el escenario imaginado por Lieu, los representantes de atención al cliente de la compañía en cuestión tendrán acceso al monitoreo de su marca cuando ésta sea mencionada en redes sociales y podrán contactarse –por la misma vía– con el consumidor en dificultades.

Este ejemplo nos anticipa que las plataformas 3.0 ganarán espacio como canales de reclamos de consumidores y por eso resulta esencial que las compañías sepan desenvolverse en las redes sociales. El aspecto positivo de esta integración es que las compañías disponen de un gran caudal de información sobre sus clientes y, si saben utilizarla convenientemente, podrán resolver más fácilmente sus inquietudes.

Por otra parte, Lieu destaca que la incorporación de nuevos canales tecnológicos puede complementar una experiencia de usuario satisfactoria. Así, por ejemplo, las dudas de una persona que necesita instrucciones precisas para instalar o armar un determinado artefacto o dispositivo podrán solucionarse mediante un videochat. A través de éste, el representante de atención al cliente no sólo será más eficaz a la hora de comunicar un procedimiento, sino que le aportará un “rostro humano” a la compañía.

Más allá de estas predicciones, lo esencial es entender el nuevo lugar que ocupa el consumidor en una era donde la tecnología atraviesa fuertemente nuestra vida cotidiana. Si comprendemos que nuestros clientes –actuales y potenciales– disponen de capacidades tales como filmar un vídeo, subirlo a la web y difundirlo entre sus amigos en cuestión de minutos, debemos contar con una infraestructura, tanto técnica como humana, para brindar soluciones con la misma velocidad y eficacia.

More than 70 musicians will be involved in the Final Fantasy XI: 10th Anniversary Concert. Two FF composers, Naoshi Mizuta and Kumi Tanioka, will be special guests. La red social tendrá que hacer frente a las enormes expectativas de los inversores.

Facebook salió el pasado viernes a la Bolsa en una operación colosal: el segundo debut más importante en la historia de la bolsa estadounidense y el mayor por parte de una compañía de Internet. A la hora de atraer accionistas, la empresa creada por Mark Zuckerberg cuenta con inconmensurables ventajas: es la red social más utilizada, con 900 millones de usuarios, de los cuales aproximadamente la mitad ingresa todos los días. Además, tras de 8 años de existencia, parece que Facebook no pasa de moda: la compañía anunció que en marzo tuvo un promedio de 526 millones de usuarios activos diarios, un aumento del 41% con respecto al año anterior.

Sin embargo, también existen algunos inconvenientes. Como plataforma gratuita, la mayor fuente con la que cuenta Facebook para obtener ingresos es la publicidad, y hay quienes aseguran que no es la mejor opción para los anunciantes. Esto se vio reflejado en la decisión de clientes como General Motors, que retiró su publicidad de la red social por considerarla una plataforma inefectiva. A pesar de esto, durante el último año los ingresos por publicidad de Facebook se duplicaron hasta alcanzar  los 3.700 millones de dólares y significaron ganancias para la compañía mayores a 1.000 millones de dólares.

Otro de los grandes interrogantes que acechan a Facebook tiene que ver con su versión para móviles: aunque 488 millones de personas ingresan regularmente a la red mediante sus tabletas o teléfonos inteligentes, esto no genera ingresos, ya que esta versión del servicio aún no cuenta con publicidad.

El gran reto: aumentar la rentabilidad    

Ante su reciente salida a bolsa, la compañía no permanece indiferente a la necesidad de aumentar su rentabilidad, sino que está pensando en nuevas formas de incrementar sus ingresos y lograr el mayor optimismo entre sus posibles inversionistas.

Una de las opciones sería ofrecer la posibilidad de posicionar mejor los contenidos publicados en la red social pagando una cantidad determinada para que estén más visibles. Esto puede ser una buena opción para las acciones de marketing, puesto que quizás, por el formato de la red social, es más provechoso para una marca generar contenidos desde su página en Facebook y asegurarse de que estos estén visibles que pagar por un anuncio tradicional en la plataforma al que tal vez los usuarios no presten tanta atención.

Otra de las apuestas de Facebook para el incremento de sus ganancias sería la creación de una tienda de aplicaciones, que podría ser similar al AppStore de Apple o el centro de aplicaciones de Google.

Las cifras

Los números son impactantes, y el precio al que finalmente se lanzaron las acciones es incluso más alto de lo planeado inicialmente. Si bien en un principio se estimaba que las acciones iban a salir a la venta con un valor de entre 28 y 35 dólares, el precio se elevó a 38 dólares debido a la alta expectativa. Facebook podría vender hasta 422 millones de acciones, lo que significaría que recaudaría hasta 17.974 millones de dólares. Eso daría a la compañía una valoración de alrededor de 100.000 millones de dólares.

Con esos datos, Facebook se convertiría en la empresa tecnológica cuyas acciones han generado más ganancias en su salida al mercado, dejando atrás a Google, que en su momento ingresó 1.700 millones de dólares, diez veces menos que los 17.974 millones de dólares que podría llegar a recaudar la mayor red social.

El mayor desafío que enfrenta Facebook es el de lograr el éxito de sus medidas para ampliar sus ingresos, y así conseguir que sus acciones se valoren más y más. Las ganancias dependen en gran parte de que se explote el gran potencial que tiene la red en términos publicitarios, puesto que posee una enorme capacidad de segmentación y tiene llegada directa a sus usuarios. Facebook solo alcanzará los ingresos necesarios para el crecimiento si logra convencer al mercado de las enormes ventajas que ofrece como plataforma publicitaria.

Sega is bringing its Monkey Ball franchise to the PlayStation Vita. Under the title Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz, the game will make its appearance on October 23. As expected, it will take advantage of the features of the Vita. Perhaps the best thing about this upcoming game is the fact that you’ll be using the camera to “capture real-world objects to create custom stages within the game.” Of course, no game can ignore online multiplayer nowadays, so Sony will you let play with people near you, and with others anywhere else.

Cuando uno quiere ver las noticias y otros videos en YouTube, o simplemente revisar su correo electrónico, todo se nota mejor en una pantalla más grande. Las tabletas, dispositivos más grandes que los teléfonos inteligentes, ofrecen esa ventaja. Al igual que con los smartphones, las tabletas ofrecen las mismas aplicaciones y los precios de estos varían según sus capacidades. Un dispositivo que podría llamarte la atención es el T-Mobile SpringBoard.

El T-Mobile SpringBoard, basado en el Huawei Media Pad, viene con el sistema operativo móvil Android versión 3.2 Honeycomb que ofrece una unidad de interfaz gráfica (GUI, graphical unit interface) más atractiva gráficamente y mejor organizada, especialmente para tabletas, que la de aquella en los smartphones con la versión 2.6.x.

A primera vista

Al sacarlo de la caja y verlo, el T-Mobile SpringBoard se ve como una maravilla por un lado, pero por el lado opuesto no se puede decir lo mismo. A simple vista, el lado del monitor se ve llamativo, pero los colores escogidos para el lado contrario (de aluminio y plástico) lo hace a uno pensar diferente, sin embargo, si uno pone a un lado este detalle, verás entonces el buen funcionamiento que trae este dispositivo (que ahora vale $99 con un contrato de dos años). Eso sí, el material solido de aluminio hace que se sienta bien cómodo en las manos; no se siente nada resbaladizo.

La pantalla mide 7 pulgadas, tiene una resolución de 1280 por 800 píxeles (muy buena para leer el texto en páginas Internet). La acompaña la cámara delantera de 1.3 mega píxeles y la cámara trasera de 5 mega píxeles, y el Springboard cuenta con una ranura (cubierta y escondida) para tarjetas micro-SD (de hasta 32 GB) y SIM, un puerto USB, y un puerto mini-HDMI.

Por dentro

El procesador Qualcomm MSM8260 de doble núcleo a 1.2 GHz hace que el SpringBoard responda a toda aplicación con rapidez. Las aplicaciones descargadas, las fotografías y los vídeos pueden almacenarse en la memoria interna de 16GB. Además, como todo dispositivo moderno, cuenta con distintas clases de conexiones inalámbricas Wi-Fi, Bluetooth y GPS.

El sistema operativo

Esta versión 3.2 de Android es diferente a la de otros dispositivos por no tener los tres o cuatro botones físicos vistos en los de Android 2.6. Lo común que tienen ambas versiones son las cinco diferentes ventanas para organizar las aplicaciones a la manera que quiera el usuario, pero hasta ahí no más. Los íconos de algunas aplicaciones abiertas se ven en la parte baja derecha, (junto a la hora, estado de la conexión a Internet, y configuraciones), mientras que las funciones más básicas de volver a la ventana previa, casa (para volver a la pantalla principal), y ventanas de aplicaciones abiertas y en funcionamiento se ven en la parte baja izquierda. La ventana de configuración es muy diferente y muy simple de usar para realizar cambios a la tableta.

Funciones básicas

El navegador incorporado funciona muy bien para entrar a casi cualquier página Internet, incluso a aquellas que tienen aún Adobe Flash. No se demora nada en ampliar la página ni en desplazarla de arriba a abajo y viceversa.

La aplicación de la cámara trae funciones básicas y configuraciones simples tales como cambiar el efecto y resolución, entre otras, pero la calidad de la cámara (para fotos y vídeos) es lo único que necesita mejoramiento. Los colores no sobresalen en calidad comparado al de otras tabletas o teléfonos inteligentes, aunque si supera a algunos de su clase, no importa si se toman fotografías de noche o de día, o si uno está en la casa o fuera.

Aplicaciones

Desde el momento que se prende y se usa la tableta, se nota que hay ya unas aplicaciones listas para usar. Entre aquellas hay: GMail, Netflix, Let’s Golf 2, Blockbuster, Zinio, Qik Video Chat, aplicaciones de T-Mobile, y otras más. La aplicación de Facebook tiene que descargarse para tener acceso a la red social. Para toda aplicación en la que se tenga que escribir, hay que tomar en cuenta el estilo de teclado que usar. Con el estilo Swype, uno lleva su dedo de una letra a otra sin quitar el dedo del teclado virtual. Si no es de tu agrado el Swype, puedes cambiarlo al estilo regular de apretar cada letra.

Para los que buscan diversión, Angry Birds Space puede desafiarlos y entretenerlos a la vez, mientras que las aplicaciones Firefox, Opera y Dolphin Browser HD ofrecen sus propias ventajas para navegar por la Internet.

Y si se trata de comunicarse con alguien en vivo con tus seres queridos, el servicio Skype se encuentra a tu alcance.

Velocidad por la red

Durante horas del día en el Centro de la Florida, la conexión llega a una velocidad 4G de 5 Mbps para descarga (para navegar por la red, conseguir aplicaciones, guardar música) y hasta 3 Mbps de carga (para compartir fotos y vídeos en las redes sociales, y almacenar otros documentos en servicios como Box.net y ADrive). Según el área donde uno esté, la conexión puede ser mayor o menor, aunque en teoría puede llegar hasta 14 Mbps. De todos modos, es más que suficiente para descargar aplicaciones Android de la tienda Google Play.

Duración de la batería

Este es un aspecto importante de cada dispositivo, especialmente de uno que se vaya a usar por varias horas fuera de casa o de la oficina en alguna asignación. Con el uso de aplicaciones activas favoritas para muchos usuarios (Facebook, Twitter, GMail, Google+, AVG Anti-virus, DropBox), el SpringBoard dura aproximadamente siete horas, tiempo suficiente para realizar distintas tareas por Internet, descargar juegos y ver vídeos, y hasta doce horas en modo de espera (stand-by).

Conclusión

Este dispositivo le hace la competencia a otros de su clase. Siendo una tableta con una pantalla de siete pulgadas, con un potente procesador de doble núcleo para manejar cualquier aplicación, hecho de material durarero, y cómodo para cargarlo con una mano y usarlo con la otra, entre otros detalles, el SpringBoard no se queda atrás. Si deseas un dispositivo más grande que el de un teléfono inteligente para utilizarlo dondequiera que vayas para consumo Internet, échale un vistazo a esta tableta.

E3 2012 is only two weeks away, but it’s never too early to listen to some rumors going on before the expo.

The Paul Gale Network, the one blog that first broke the news about Sony’s PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, has reported a rumor that Retro Studios is either working, or have in the past considered working, on a game called Star Fox – Metroid: Fusion Saga.

The concept combines the style of gameplay of both titles: the third-person, high-action air and land battles from Star Fox, and the first-person perspective from Metroid Prime.

The story: Fox McCloud and his friends are on a mission, but then their Airwing collides with Samus’ ship. You, as Fox, take control of her ship.

There is lots of info on the site, but of course, this is just a rumor. The source of this rumor does say that this was a concept at Nintendo and Retro Studios. The source does say the following: What I can’t tell you or even guess, really, is whether or not this concept is actually the game that Retro Studios has been working on all this time for Wii U.

En las redes sociales, los usuarios tienen más poder que nunca y pueden llegar con su discurso a un público masivo, algo que hace apenas un par de años era prácticamente imposible.

Lo cierto es que Internet llegó para cambiar definitivamente las reglas de juego del mundo del marketing. En su libro ZMOT: ganando el momento cero de la verdad, Google explica que el 84% de los navegantes utiliza la red a la hora de tomar decisiones de compra. Y cuando los usuarios buscan en Internet información sobre productos o servicios, pueden encontrar las páginas de las marcas que ofrecen lo que están buscando, y también reseñas y comentarios en medios especializados. Pero, ante todo, tienen la posibilidad de acceder a herramientas de sociabilidad online que les permiten conocer la opinión de otros usuarios. Sitios como Yelp o Tripadvisor funcionan básicamente a través del contenido producido por los navegantes. Las grandes tiendas online como Amazon incluyen también comentarios de los usuarios, permitiendo que los navegantes obtengan opiniones de primera mano sobre un producto antes de adquirirlo.

Esta nueva realidad implica un cambio de paradigma, el ingreso en una etapa en la que la imagen pública de una marca ya no es responsabilidad exclusiva de sus departamentos de marketing, relaciones públicas y comunicación. Las compañías deben insertarse en un escenario en el cual su reputación es fruto de una construcción colectiva, y en el que ya no tienen la capacidad de esconderse en caso de brindar productos o servicios defectuosos. La opinión pública de los consumidores –tanto en un sentido positivo como negativo– resulta determinante para el rendimiento comercial de una compañía.

El fenómeno de la web participativa no es simplemente una moda o una tendencia pasajera. Es una tendencia que se asienta, fundamentalmente, en formas de comportamiento que ya fueron adoptadas por los usuarios y que, por fortuna, no parece posible revertir. Las empresas no siempre están preparadas de la mejor manera para moverse en este nuevo contexto, no están acostumbradas a ser interpeladas por sus consumidores a la vista de todo el mundo. Lo primero que deben hacer es perder el miedo. Tomar conciencia de que el contexto cambió, y de que la nueva máxima que debe regir al mundo de la comunicación y el marketing en la era de Internet es la transparencia.

Si saben aceptar estos retos, están ante una oportunidad inédita: la de generar una relación más humana, cotidiana y sentimental con sus consumidores. Una relación que vaya incluso más allá de la mera satisfacción de necesidades y que, asentándose en lazos simbólicos, permita construir un lazo más duradero. Hoy, más que nunca, las empresas deben entender que la era de la sociabilidad online está aquí para quedarse. Y que, bien aprovechada, la nueva realidad de la web puede ser un potenciador enorme para los negocios.

Personally, Toonami was one small segment on Cartoon Network that united all anime fans, geeks everywhere. When it was gone, it was a big loss on September 20, 2008, after its original launch date of March 17, 1997.

Toonami started as that little corner on the Cartoon Network schedule for the teens and grownups who wanted more action. Dragon Ball Z, G Gundam, Robotech, Sailor Moon and many other anime were seen on Toonami.

La compañía debió remplazar a sus máximos ejecutivos cuatro veces en los últimos tres años y no logra remontar sus resultados comerciales.

Es sin dudas un gigante, uno de los más grandes de Internet. En algún momento, su buscador era el que se abría automáticamente en la mayoría de los ordenadores. Su sistema de correo gratuitoYahoo!Mail es uno de los más antiguos de la red, y aun hoy es el segundo más utilizado del mundo. Pero es mucha la distancia que separa la imagen que en algún momento tuvo Yahoo! de su realidad actual.

Su motor de búsqueda, la herramienta que popularizó a la compañía en sus inicios, no puede afrontar la competencia con Google. Y en los últimos meses, ha sido superado incluso por Bing. Además, Yahoo! no ha encontrado la manera de hacerse un hueco en el candente mercado de las redes sociales. Y, por si esto fuera poco, la empresa se encuentra ahora sumida en un grave escándalo, luego de que su jefe ejecutivo Scott Thompson presentara la renuncia, después haber sido denunciado por haber mentido en los antecedentes de su currículum.

La mentira del jefe ejecutivo consistiría en un agregado a una licenciatura en su experiencia académica. Thompson es licenciado en Contabilidad por el Stonehill College, pero en su CV figura una licenciatura en Contabilidad y en Ciencias Computacionales. Lo sorprendente es que un dato así se les haya pasado por alto a los responsables de una compañía tan grande y prestigiosa. Además, esta no sería la única falta del CEO: según el diario británico The Guardian, Thompson rompió con una de las reglas de Yahoo!, ya que ocupa cargos directivos en otras dos empresas: Splunk y F5 Networks.

Luego de ser descubierto públicamente por el accionista Daniel Loeb, Thompson –que no llevaba ni siquiera 6 meses en su cargo– intentó restarle importancia al asunto, emitiendo una disculpa por correo electrónico en la cual calificaba su acción como “una distracción” y un “error que pasó inadvertido”. De cualquier modo, el ejecutivo terminó por presentar su dimisión durante el último fin de semana, y fue reemplazado interinamente por el vicepresidente ejecutivo Ross Levinsohn. Loeb, por su parte, pasará a ocupar un sillón en el consejo directivo de la compañía.

Sin embargo, una cuestión remarcable, como lo señala la revista Forbes, es que Loeb probablemente no tuvo en cuenta que este escándalo no sólo perjudica a Thompon, sino que daña más a la ya frágil Yahoo!

Otra caída en una cadena de tropiezos

Hay un hecho que no pone las cosas nada fáciles para Yahoo! Con la salida de Thompson, la compañía ya cambió de CEO cuatro veces en tres años. ¿Por qué la empresa falla en la elección de sus líderes? La CEO que antecedió a Scott Thompson, Carol Bartz, fue despedida en septiembre de 2011 tras no haber conseguido buenos resultados en su intento de remontar los números de la empresa, en franca caída durante los últimos años. Sin dudas, el nuevo escándalo ayuda a profundizar aún más la ya delicada situación de la empresa, que hace apenas un mes había anunciado el despido de 2.000 empleados –el 14% de su plantilla– para reducir sus costos operativos.

Más allá de la polémica que envuelve a Thompson, no hay dudas de que la realidad de Yahoo! no es nada fácil. Una reciente infografía difundida por el medio especializado Mashable revela que sus ingresos cayeron alrededor de un 30% en los últimos cuatro años. Sólo durante 2011, se calcula que el tráfico de sus sitios se redujo en un 35%. Pero, ¿cómo llego Yahoo! a su situación actual? ¿Se debe a la competencia creciente de empresas que logran captar más usuarios a través de plataformas novedosas? ¿Ha perdido uno de los gigantes de Internet su capacidad para innovar?

Lo cierto es que mientras los actuales reyes de la red ganan adeptos de la mano de la sociabilidad online y de nuevas herramientas que promueven la interacción, Yahoo! sigue teniendo una cuenta pendiente muy importante en este sentido. Su plataforma Yahoo! Respuestas es una jugada interesante en este sentido, pero su peso en el mundo web es realmente menor.

En estos momentos, la firma está realizando intentos desesperados por elevar su imagen. Además de la salida de Thompson, la empresa decidió que removerá de su cargo a Patti Hart, responsable de contratación. Por su parte, Third Point, el principal grupo accionista en la firma, inició una investigación acerca de la contratación de Thompson, en una tentativa por garantizar la transparencia de la compañía de aquí hacia el futuro.

Pero las cosas en Yahoo! no andan nada bien hace largo tiempo. Más allá de sus problemas de gestión, la empresa no posee hoy una oferta de productos que sea atractiva para los navegantes ni para los anunciantes. Sin lugar a dudas, uno de los pioneros de la web necesita un cambio de rumbo que le permita subirse a la nueva era de la Internet social con propuestas que logren volver a captar el interés del público. ¿Será capaz de lograrlo?

In order to get this update, gamers must download the system update first (via System Settings –> Other Settings –> Press “4″ –> Select “System Updates). This update will let users download patches from the Nintendo eShop and save them on SD cards.

Without the game update, players will only be able to play single-player and local multiplayer modes, but will not compete in online matches with others.

For gamers who are unaware of this glitch and may have found out recently because of this update, they will be feeling better knowing other players won’t be taking advantage of it anymore.

[ES]: Nintendo ha lanzado esta mañana la primera actualización para Mario Kart 7, la primera para un juego 3DS. Esta actualización elimina los atajos que permitían a la gente saltar algunas partes de ciertas pistas (Wuhu Island, Wuhu Mountain, y la de GBA Bowser Castle 1) durante las competiciones multijugador en línea.

Para obtener esta actualización, los jugadores deben descargar primero la nueva actualización del sistema (vía Configuración del sistema –> Configuración –> Otros –> apretar/presionar el ”4″ –> Seleccionar “Actualizaciones del sistema”). Esta actualización permitirá a los usuarios descargar los parches de la tienda  Nintendo eShop y guardarlos en tarjetas SD.

Sin la actualización del juego, los jugadores sólo podrán jugar los modos de un solo jugador y de multijugador local, pero no van a competir en partidas en línea con otros.

Para los jugadores que desconozcan este fallo, y que puedan haber descubierto recientemente por esta actualización, se sentirán mejor sabiendo que otros jugadores no se van a aprovechar de ello nunca más.

The Kingdom Hearts series has seen many spin-offs over the past few years. Birth by Sleep, 358/2 Days, and Coded are some recent ones just to name a few. And as a KH fan its good to hear from the creator himself that these titles actually do have some continuity with the story as a whole. But of course, fans will always want more, and we’re dying for Kingdom Hearts 3. That being said, it seems fans will finally get something close to what they’ve been waiting for.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is the latest entry in the series and its first time on Nintendo 3DS. This is also the continuation of the story since Kingdom Hearts 2. It recently just got released in Japan and it is slated for release this July and we’ve finally gotten our first look at the English dubbed version of the game.

From what I can tell this is the same 8 minute trailer we got for the game prior to its release in Japan, only with the English voices dubbed over it. Haley Joel Osmont seems to be in top form seeing as he hasn’t had this much time as Sora since KH2. It seems a number of actors have returned to reprise their roles as well and as a KH fan I have no complaints. Seeing as the game is still in the process of localization it seems will have to wait a bit though before we get more insight on the translated menus and attack names. It’s also very welcome to get some sneak peaks at the voices for Neku and the gang from the World Ends With You.

After seeing the English version of this trailer, I have to admit it gave me chills of excitement towards the end now that I have a better understanding of the story and the situation Sora and co. have found themselves in this time around. And while it sucks that North America is the last to get the game, as a Sora fan, I definitely can’t wait to play this latest installment to the saga.

Experience this Free-to-Play, Third-Person Multiplayer PC Shooter Before Everyone Else

SAN JOSE, Calif. – May 14, 2012 – Applicants are now being considered for the closed beta phase of the upcoming action-packed, third-person PC shooter, Mercenary Ops. For all those interested in participating, just “Like” Mercenary Ops on Facebook for your chance to obtain a closed beta key.

The first group of beta testers will be allowed in on June 20, 2012.  During this beta test phase, players will be able to do battle in 6 different intense game modes and across a number of dynamic maps. Those that participate will get to experience the fast-paced action of the competitive online multiplayer matches along with the cooperative missions of up to 8 players against deadly hordes of AI controlled enemies and mini-bosses.

Mercenary Ops will be free to download and play at launch this summer. The game features an optional microtransaction system that allows players to unlock and customize their weapons and equipment through special upgrades; all of which can also be obtained through the game’s loot system.

“Balancing is always a major concern when it comes to online shooters, especially when they are free-to-play,” said Mercenary Ops Producer, Jason Sharp. “Because of this, we have committed heavily to testing the game internally and have even invited some of the world’s best professional gamers for their invaluable feedback. With the launch of our closed beta we will have the chance to garner even more feedback, this time from general shooter fans.”

Set in the near future when powerful corporations have led to the imminent downfall of humanity, Mercenary Ops pits deadly guns-for-hire against each other, as well as other hostile forces, in a struggle for wealth and survival. The game combines the tactical gameplay elements found in other third-person shooters with the fast-paced action of online multiplayer titles. Mercenary Ops puts an equal emphasis on competitive play and team-based cooperative missions, providing players with a truly action-packed and explosive experience.

Mercenary Ops was created using Unreal Engine 3. The engine was selected for its cutting-edge graphics, multi-core processor support, optimization for the PC and massive world support.

Earlier this week, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan held a press conference showing Keiji Inafune’s latest creation, Soul Sacrifice. If you think that name sounds familiar, it is. Inafume has worked at Capcom for 23 years as a character designer. He’s the co-designer of Mega Man.

In the three videos (translated to English) posted by PlayStation Japan on YouTube, Inafune and others explains the storyline, gameplay, music, art and more in the making of this PlayStation Vita game.

With Inafune as director, this single-player, Monster-Hunter-with-horror game, could bring more gamers to the PlayStation Vita.

Using these cards will allow players to unlock rare Dream Eaters and a 360° viewing stand that allows players to take a closer look at their Dream Eaters from all angles.

One wild AR card will randomly unlock one of the three rare Dream Eaters: Ursa Circus, Sudo Neku or Meowjesty. The second AR card unlocks R&R Seal Dream Eater, and the last AR card unlocks the 360° viewing stand.

7.    Lleva una vida mas sana, come comida casera, evita los “snacks de oficina” y hace ejercicio más seguido: un 73% de los trabajadores  aseguran que se alimentan de una forma más sana cuando trabajan desde su casa.

8.    Esta menos estresado.  El 75% de los trabajadores creen que su trabajo lo estresa,  mientras que un 25% considera que es lo más estresante de su vida. Sin embargo, los teletrabajadores logran una reducción del estrés de un 25%.

9.    No pierde tiempo pensando qué vestir cada mañana, un estudio presentado por el diario The Telegraph sostiene que las mujeres pierden en promedio 16 minutos todas las mañanas decidiendo que prendas vestir antes de salir a trabajar, el equivalente a 5 horas por mes frente a su guardarropa.

10.  La utilización de sus pantuflas crece considerablemente, y esto hace feliz a cualquiera o, al menos, así lo aseguran desde la universidad de Harvard, que incluye el uso de un calzado cómodo entre sus 10 recomendaciones para ser feliz.

A primera vista

Al sacar el Droid 4 de su caja para darle una primera mirada, uno se da cuenta que el diseño es mejor que el de los modelos anteriores (como el del Droid 3), y se parece mucho más al Razr por su color y bordes de metal. La característica principal y única que separa al Droid 4 del resto de la familia actual de los Droid es el teclado deslizable. Los puertos USB y HDMI, y los botones de los volumes son características regulares en los Droid. Lo que se encuentra ausente es el puerto para conectar algún audífono.

Dentro de la caja, se encuentran la cubierta de la bateria y su herramienta plástica para abrirla, una tarjeta SIM, el cargador con cable USB, instrucciones e información miscelanea. Dentro del dispositivo hay acceso a la ranura para colocar la tarjeta SIM y la tarjeta USB para almacenar toda clase de archivos.

El teclado deslizable

Con este teclado incorporado, aquellas personas acostumbradas al uso de computadoras en sus hogares o trabajos deberían estar satisfechas si aún no han decidido tener un teléfono inteligente con lo mismo. Mientras que toma algo de tiempo acostumabrarse al teclado táctil para los que recien lleguen a utilizar un dispositivo más útil y avanzado, este smartphone ofrece comodidad a aquellos que han deseado un verdadero teclado físico. Los botones funcionan efectivamente. Uno puede sertirse a toda comodidad al escribir mensajes vía email y las redes sociales, o al realizar búsquedas en Google, hasta en las horas de la noche. Los botones del teclado se iluminan apenas se tocan para escribir. Cada botón se encuentra bien ubicado y no se sienten nada pegazosos.

Las especificaciones

Entre las características de gran importancia para el Droid 4 (al igual que otros de su clase), se encuentran: el funcionamiento del procesador de doble núcleo de 1.2 GhZ Cortex-A9, 1GB de memoria, 16GB para almacenar aplicaciones y más contenido, el sistema operativo Android 2.3 (recientemente actualizado al 2.3.6), una pantalla táctil de 960 x 540 píxeles, cámara para tomar fotos y grabar video.

Como algo común en los dispositivos Droid, las aplicaciones funcionan rápidamente no solo por el procesador veloz, sino por la velocidad de su red inalámbrica 4G de Verizon manteniéndolo a uno conectado y al día con Facebook, Twitter, aplicaciones de otras redes sociales y de noticias. Dependiendo del área en que uno vive o usa el Droid 4, la velocidad varía, pero en la mayoría de casos, la velocidad Internet llega a pasar los 10 Mbps (velocidad rápida comparada a la de una computadora con Internet en casa) y hasta un máximo aproximado de 19 Mbps.

El sistema operativo

El sistema opertativo Android del Droid 4 fue actualizado hace pocas semanas para mejorar el uso del teléfono inteligente, sin embargo, aquella actualización no llevó al Droid 4 a la versión Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. En sí, el sistema operativo es sencillo para usar, especialmente si uno lo usa frecuentemente y se acostumbra a todas sus funciones. Con las cinco ventanas para organizar las aplicaciones, el usuario podrá contar con acceso inmediato a aquellas en pocos segundos. Y las configuraciones son sencillas de cambiar.

Las aplicaciones

Por pertenecer el sistema operativo a la familia Android, este dispositivo cuenta con miles de aplicaciones disponibles vía Google Play (el nuevo nombre de la tienda de aplicaciones Android). Algunas que la separan de los dispositvos de otros sistemas operativos móviles son OnLive (que permite jugar juegos de computadoras en el teléfono inteligente sin el uso de un controloador físico y es recomendado para los ‘gamers’) y Smart Actions (acciones inteligentes, que permite automatizar funciones escogidas por el usuario de acuerdo a las condiciones del dispositivo como desactivar la función GPS cuando solo queda 10% de  la batería del teléfono).

La cámara

La cámara de 8 mega píxeles ofrece colores de buena calidad. Las fotos y los videos en alta definición se ven muy bien por los colores naturales, una ventaja que tiene al compararlo con otros teléfonos Droid de su clase. Hasta en un ambiente con poca iluminación, el flash ayuda mucho al tomar fotos; lo mismo con la luz del Droid 4 al capturar videos.

En el uso diario

Antes de la reciente actualización [http://support.verizonwireless.com/system_update/droid4.html], el dispositivo lograba durar hasta alrededor de cuatro horas con distintas aplicaciones activas como Twitter, Facebook, GMail,  aplicaciones del tiempo o clima, aplicación de música, y otros juegos y apps que den mensajes vía servicio push (cuando un servicio nos actualiza de nueva información). Con la nueva actualización ya disponible desde finales de abril, las aplicaciones pueden permancer activas por más tiempo, y además ofrece mejor conectividad inalámbrica Wi-Fi, un nuevo widget de la app MotoCast, y menor manejo de la luz del teclado según su uso (las luces se prenderán cuando se necesiten).

A pesar del tiempo extra que dura el Droid 4 con la actualización reciente, es recomendable llevar un recargador USB apropiado para conectarlo a tu automóvil, especialmente mientras que uno maneja de un lugar a otro para tenerlo listo y activo durante las actividades de uno.

Las llamadas 

Hasta en ambientes por donde hay mucho tráfico o mucha gente, las llamadas logran escucharse muy bien. Si no fuese por el ruido de las calles, la persona con la que uno conversa no sabría si uno se encuentra en su casa o trabajo, o en la calle rumbo a un destino corto.

Conclusión

Es difícil encontrar un teléfono inteligente avanzado y apropiado para aquellos que prefieren el uso de un teclado. Además del diseño moderno y atractivo que comparte el Droid 4 con otros de su familia, la conexión Internet y la actualización del smartphone le dan mejor funcionamiento al dispositivo que ahora cuesta la mitad de su precio original. A $199, si quieres dejar de usar tu teléfono simple que tienes para dar el salto tecnológico a un teléfono inteligente y con un teclado, toma en consideración este dispositivo.

Lo bueno

• Un teclado muy útil para aquellos acostumbrados a usarlos en móviles y sus computadoras.
• Una actualización que le da más tiempo de duración y mejoramiento a la conexión inalámbrica Wi-Fi.

• Fotos con colores naturales. Funciona muy bien bajo condiciones de baja luz.
• Smart Actions, que automatiza las funciones del dispositivo según las condiciones elegidas.

Primal Carnage Lets Loose Dino Rage, Human Terror and Even More Breathtaking Alpha Footage

A predator’s thirst for prey cannot be satiated by anything other than a perfect kill, and soon players will be wielding the blood-parched, unrelenting force of history’s greatest generation of hunters – the dinosaurs.  Delivered with immense pride by developer Lukewarm Media and publisher Reverb Publishing, Primal Carnage sets players in a man versus pre-historic beast online deathmatch as savvy survivalists collide with foes of brute force, allowing players to choose a side.
