Nintendo Direct: 2013.05.17 – Sega, Sonic: Lost World, y más

Sonic: Lost World

Nintendo Direct – 2013.05.17: Sega, Sonic: Lost World, and more

Sonic: Lost World

[EN]: After Nintendo Direct earlier today, most of the talk among players has been about an alliance between Nintendo and Sega. Not only a series of Game Gear games will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS (including titles such as Columns, Crystal Warriors, Sonic Blast), Sega is working on an an exclusive title called Sonic: Lost World, only on the Wii U. Not much was shown about the game, but from previous alliances we’ve seen of Nintendo and other companies, Nintendo has seen success. Resident Evil Revelations is a great example of that alliance, and Revelations also happens to be a title that is coming to the Wii U.

This is just the beginning of titles to come to the Wii U. What else can we expect next month at E3?

The following is a list of games by Nintendo about the titles  mentioned in today’s Nintendo Direct.

Wii U News

  • Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games: The game includes a variety of events from the Winter Games, including curling, skiing, figure skating pairs and snowboard slopestyle – which will make its Olympic debut in Sochi, Russia. Different events might use the Wii Remote Plus controller, Wii U GamePad controller or both. In addition to realistic events, the game also includes those set in the worlds of Sonic and Mario that let players perform moves not possible in real life. Launch details and timing will be announced at a later date.

  • Experience Games from Nintendo’s E3 Booth at Best Buy: Exclusively at participating Best Buy locations in the United States and Canada, consumers will be able to play some of the unreleased Wii U games featured at E3 while the event is occurring in Los Angeles. Details about locations and which games will be featured will be revealed in the coming weeks.

  • New Super Luigi U: The Year of Luigi-themed downloadable content for New Super Mario Bros. U offers players 82 updated courses. But it also includes a new playable character in multiplayer mode: Nabbit, who steals items from Toad Houses. Nabbit can’t power up, but also won’t take damage when he touches enemies. New Super Luigi U will be released as downloadable content for New Super Mario Bros. U in the Nintendo eShop on June 20 for $19.99. But in honor of the Year of Luigi, Nintendo is also offering a standalone packaged version of New Super Luigi U that doesn’t require New Super Mario Bros. U on Aug. 25 at a suggested retail price of $29.99.

  • The Wonderful 101: The mass-action adventure from Platinum Games launches Sept. 15. Additional details will be announced after E3.

  • Pikmin 3: New playable characters Alph, Brittany and Charlie recruit the Pikmin creatures to help them gather fruit so that they can return with the seeds to save their home, Planet Koppai. Players can divide activities among the different characters, and explore separate areas in the same map with different groups of Pikmin. Using the GamePad (known as the KopPad in the game), players can view the overall map and grasp what each character and Pikmin are up to. Players also can choose their preferred control option: GamePad in conjunction with the TV, Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk combo or GamePad only in off-TV mode. Players can also use the Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk with the GamePad as a second-screen monitor. Pikmin 3 launches Aug. 4.

  • GAME & WARIO: The game launches in stores and in the Nintendo eShop June 23 at a suggested retail price of $39.99, and includes a number of games from WarioWare, Inc., that use the GamePad in different ways. Newly revealed games include: Island, which lets two to five people launch little creatures called Fronks onto islands in the sea to score points; Patchwork, a puzzle game that tests players’ pattern-recognition skills; and Kung-Fu, which challenges players to help Young Cricket navigate a course safely using the forward-looking view on the TV and the top-down view on the GamePad. A new Iwata Asks feature offers more details about the game at http://iwataasks.nintendo.com.

  • Resident Evil Revelations: Capcom’s horror-survival game is launching in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on May 21. The game originally released for Nintendo 3DS, and the Wii U version offers players updated HD graphics, GamePad controls and new game content. Players can use the GamePad to view the map and change items using the touch screen without pausing their progress. Or they can play the full game on the GamePad in off-TV mode, or play with the Wii U Pro Controller. The game is Miiverse-compatible, and a demo version is currently available in the Nintendo eShop.

The videos will be available on Nintendo’s YouTube channel and in the Nintendo eShop on a regular basis leading up to the game’s June 9 launch. Additionally, a new Animal Crossing panel for Puzzle Swap is now available for StreetPass Mii Plaza, and fans also might find a special Animal Crossing-themed message on Swapnote.

  • Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D: This game launches in stores and in the Nintendo eShop on May 24 and includes all the fun of the original Wii game, now optimized for portable play. It also includes eight new unlockable levels that are each based on one of the eight worlds from the original game. These levels will challenge players with new elements like platforms that force them to move at a faster pace, large drops of tar falling from the ceiling and giant rotating stone gears that can alter the level itself.

  • A Legendary Sale: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons arrive on the Virtual Console service for Nintendo 3DS on May 30. Because playing the games together unlocks so much additional content, Nintendo is offering them for just $4.99 each for the first three weeks after launch. After this promotion expires, the games will be available for $5.99 each.

  • Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move: The game, which launched May 9 exclusively in the Nintendo eShop, challenges players to place tiles on the bottom screen to guide the Minis to their goal on the top screen. The game includes more than 180 stages, but also dramatically extends the fun of the game by letting players create their own stages and share them with others. Players can opt to try a random user-created level or one created by their friends. They can also select from the most popular levels overall or search the top levels of the week.

“Is Square getting ready to play their trump card?”

By: Marquis Mattocks

The common consensus that seems to be on every Square Enix fan and even the industry’s mind is that Square is in real trouble if they don’t give us a real major hit soon. With the failures of both Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, and more recently their take on Tomb Raider’s first-month sales, calling it a failure even after the game received very good reviews and sold 3 million copies, the future of this once great company is becoming more and more questionable every day.

But despite this, could Square be getting ready for their comeback?

As we quickly approach the next generation and the start of a new console war, could Square be getting ready for a strong comeback to take advantage of all this excitement? Earlier this year at Sony’s press conference, Square came on stage to once again show off their tech demo, Agni’s Philosophy, which shows off their brand new engine they plan to use for upcoming games in the coming generation. At the end of their presentation, without giving so much as a hint, Square said that we should look forward to E3 for a big announcement. While this is extremely cryptic and I’m not sure how much the fan base can take from all this secrecy, it still begs the question “Is Square preparing for some big reveals soon?”

As we approach E3 even now, rumors have been going around saying their longest running project, Final Fantasy Versus XIII will have a showing this year, and will even possibly be rebranded as Final Fantasy 15. Tetsuya Nomura, head of the project, has also recently gone on record saying Square is preparing to reveal more information about the project soon, and also a possible explanation as to why it’s taken so long for Versus to come out.

Either way, this E3, all eyes will definitely be on Square to some degree and the last of us diehard fans of the company and the series they produce, are praying this showing is the event to end all events. With games such as Versus, Kingdom Hearts III, and even the hope for exciting new IPs; Square has a lot to live up to this year or else they risk alienating even more of their audience. With a new CEO now in charge of Square things are definitely set for change, but with the way things have being going as of late, only time will tell if that change will be for the better or not.

Activision: “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” – Uprising DLC [PC/PS3]

[EN]: It’s almost the weekend, but not too early to start downloading the Black Ops II Uprising DLC pack for the PC and PS3. This pack has already been distributed for the Xbox 360, but PC and PS3 gamers no longer have to wait to start playing Mob of the Dead and other multiplayer maps (Magma, Encore, Vertigo, and Studio).

Activision also released a behind-the-scenes video of The Replacers trailer with actors J.B. Smoove and Peter Stormore. Watch it!

Sony: “Gran Turismo 6″ [PS3] – #GTA6is coming

[EN]: With Sony about to change gears later this year by bringing the PS4 as their newest console, the company is not leaving behind PS3 gamers just yet. Though I’d like to see a PS4 version of this racing franchise, Gran Turismo 6 is coming later this year to the PS3. The series creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, made the announcement during an event celebrating the 15 years of the Gran Turismo franchise. With new cars, new tracks, a GT6 demo coming in July, and a partnership with tire manufacturer Yokohama Rubber and suspension company KW Automotive to work as tech partners in the creation of the game’s physics engine, it sounds like GT6 could be a hit this year.

Pokémon X & Y: New International Info | Nueva Información Internacional

Pokémon X & Y

[EN]: Get ready Pokémon Masters, because this fall we start yet another adventure in the immense world of Pokemon. But it seems we have a lot of new coming to the franchise this time around! In a recent scan from the magazine CoroCoro, we got more insight into some of the new features coming to the game. This time around, much like how Unova, the previous region in the Pokémon Black and White series, was based on New York. This new region, going by the name of Karos, will be based on France. This would explain the Eiffel Tower-like structure in the trailer earlier this year.

But that’s not all! Today, we have the international names for some of the new Pokémon, moves and Region in this update. In this game for the first time in the series, you will be able to adjust the skin tone, and hair style of your character. This should make for some fun in differentiating your character for online battles with your friends, and is what particularly has me, a longtime fan of the series, excited. It has also been confirmed that you’ll be able to get new outfits and accessories at later points in the game. In the recent gameplay trailer, we got to see a lot of the new pokemon in action and they’re English names. This list consists of an electric/normal lizard called Helioptile, a normal/flying type bird called Fletchling, said to be based on a Japanese robin, and a fighting type panda called Pancham….yes a panda that can fight, hopefully we get some new Kung-Fu moves this time around to fit the occasion.

Also, a grass type goat ram Pokémon called Gogoat was revealed as well, and apparently you can actually ride it in game! Whether or not other Pokémon will have this same ability remains to be seen, but this does excite me for what this could mean as far as sailing the seas on your water types or even when it comes to flying around to different towns. Also as I stated earlier, the new region will be going by the name of Kalos. It is based on France and the region itself is shaped like a star. “Kalos” most likely comes from the greek word “good” or “beauty.” It has also been confirmed that that there will be no more grid walking for the characters in this game, meaning for the first time you’ll be able to run in every direction as opposed to the strict left, right, up, down, grid style of the past. The town in the trailer in which the trainer is seen by the Eiffel Tower like structure is called Lumiose City, and is based on Paris. The town is said to have 3D rendered cars, as well as, little canals to give it that Paris feel.

The Pokédex as always has also gotten an upgrade and it looks very high tech this time around, ha maybe the equivalent of an iPhone 5 is called a PokeDex5 in the world of Pokémon! Nonetheless this is all very interesting, and hopefully we get to see even more at E3 this year. Here’s hoping the news thus far has only been the tip of the iceberg!

Capcom: “Remember Me”

[EN]: Capcom’s upcoming title, Remember Me, takes a look at the future of social networks. While today we share own photos and videos via Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, among other services, the subject of online privacy is one important issue. So far, the best place where we can keep our privacy is in our minds, but in Remember Me, that will no longer be achieved. Imagine a world where every single moment gets recorded. Imagine memories that can be sold, bought or traded. Thanks to Memorize Corporation’s Sensen device, this is possible. It’s been implanted into almost every person in the planet.

Take a look at this interactive journal made by Antoince Cartier-Wells, the creator this futuristic social network. The game will arrive to stores before this year’s E3. It will be available in the USA and Europe on June 4 for North America and on June 7 in Europe.
