From/De: Activision

Call of Duty(R): Black Ops to Utilize State-of-the-Art Active Shutter 3D Technology

3D Version of the Most Anticipated Game of the Year Set to Deliver Unprecedented Immersive Action Experience

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct 05, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ — In what could become the definitive 3D game experience, Treyarch’s Call of Duty(R): Black Ops will also be playable in stereoscopic 3D when the game launches at retail outlets worldwide on November 9th. Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) today revealed that the game will be compatible with 3D-ready HDTVs and 3D PCs utilizing state-of-the-art active shutter 3D glasses, delivering true depth of field and an unprecedented level of immersion that is perfectly suited for the Call of Duty action experience. Call of Duty: Black Ops will be playable in both 3D and non-3D on the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation(R) 3 computer entertainment system and Windows(R) PC.

“Development of stereoscopic 3D began as an R&D project, but once we saw what the technology brought to the Call of Duty experience, what a great fit and how immersive it was, we knew that we had to develop it for Black Ops. Aiming down the sights of your weapons, flying in helicopters, rappelling down mountains, and moving through highly detailed environments are just some of the awesome experiences you will have in 3D with Black Ops,” says Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops is already the most anticipated entertainment launch of the year, and the addition of a fully playable 3D version will truly take gaming to the next level,” said Chris Homeister, senior vice president and general manager of the home entertainment group at Best Buy. “Through our footprint of nearly 1100 retail locations across the country and online, as well as our wide selection of 3D-enabled products, Best Buy is uniquely positioned to bring this exciting experience to life for consumers. We’re thrilled to partner with Activision to support this great new chapter in home entertainment.”

Added Lamia, “we made sure the experience is seamless for gamers to use with a simple menu option to enable stereoscopic 3D or disable it at any time whether playing in the single player campaign, multiplayer or Zombies.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops for Windows PC is NVIDIA(R) 3D Vision(R)-Ready and supports stereoscopic 3D gaming using 3D Vision active-shutter glasses and NVIDIA GeForce GPUs. For more information, go to www.nvidia.com/get3D.

For Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system consoles, 3D features require a compatible 3D-ready HD TV. See www.callofduty.com/3d for more information.

Rated “M” (Mature – Blood, Drug Reference, Intense Violence and Language) by the ESRB, Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released worldwide on November 9th for the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation(R)3 computer entertainment system, Nintendo Wii(TM) and Windows PC. OnLive: No more monthly fee | No más cuota mensual

OnLive is a cool gaming service. Though its library is still small compared to Xbox Live & PlayStation Network, OnLive is number 1 as a streaming game service. Since its start, members have been able to play free demos of games, chat with other players, try out some games, and watch others’ gameplay by becoming Founding Members free of charge for a full year of service. Members have had the option to continue with the service by paying a monthly fee (US$14.95) after the end of the 12-month trial period. Earlier today, OnLive announced its streaming gaming service will no longer require that base monthly fee. From now on, gamers can play the games they bought full access for anytime they want without worrying about paying a monthly fee  saving money to get a Full PlayPass for the games of their choice.

Blizzard: “World of Warcraft: Cataclysm” – Release Date Announced | Fecha de lanzamiento anunciada

From/De: Blizzard

World of Warcraft(R): Cataclysm(TM) in Stores Starting December 7

IRVINE, Calif., Oct 04, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced that World of Warcraft(R): Cataclysm(TM), the highly anticipated third expansion for the world’s most popular subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game*, will be released starting on December 7, 2010. The expansion will be available on DVD-ROM for Windows(R) XP/Windows Vista(R)/Windows(R) 7 and Macintosh(R) at a suggested retail price of $39.99 and will also be offered as a digital download from the Blizzard Store. A special Collector’s Edition packed with bonus items will be available exclusively in retail stores for a suggested retail price of $79.99.

“Cataclysm includes the best content we’ve ever created for World of Warcraft. It’s not just an expansion, but a re-creation of much of the original Azeroth, complete with epic new high-level adventures for current players and a redesigned leveling experience for those just starting out,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “With the help of our beta testers, we’re putting on the final polish, and we look forward to welcoming gamers around the world to enjoy it in just a couple of months.”

The first two World of Warcraft expansions, The Burning Crusade(R) and Wrath of the Lich King(R), each shattered PC game sales records upon their release.* In Cataclysm, the face of Azeroth will be forever altered by the return of the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing. Players will explore once-familiar areas of the world that have now been reshaped by the devastation and filled with new adventures. In an effort to survive the planet-shattering cataclysm, two new playable races — worgen and goblins — will join the struggle between the Alliance and the Horde. As players journey to the new level cap of 85, they’ll discover newly revealed locations, acquire new levels of power, and come face to face with Deathwing in a battle to determine the fate of the world.

The beta test for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is currently underway. Visit the official Battle.net(R) website at http://www.battle.net to set up a Battle.net account and sign up for a chance to participate.
